Sexy Pink and Sexy Scarlet from ovaries sections. The expe- riment tested combinations between IAA (0; 1 and 2 mg L-1) and 2.4-D (0; 5; 10; 15 and 20 mg L-1) in the cultivars Sexy Pink and Sexy Scarlet. The cultivar Sexy Pink presented a higher frequency of callus development as compared to Sexy Scarlet. In the treatments A1D10 (1mg L-1 of IAA and 10mg L-1 of 2.4-D) and A2D5 (2 mg L-1 of IAA and 5mg L-1 of 2.4-D), the callus frequency of formation of the cultivar Sexy Pink corresponded to 100% of the inoculated explants, showing that the IAA associa- ted with the 2.4-D induced a satisfactory callus formation response in the studied cultivar.

Agronomía – UNHEVAL – Huánuco. Perú email: [email protected]. RESUMEN Las etapas fenológicas en las Heliconias se presentan de manera diferente en cada zona de vida. La presente investigación se realizó en la localidad de Ramal de Aspuzana – San Martín Perú; se evaluó los estados de desarrollo de la fase vegetativa y cuantificó el tiempo trascurrido para el inicio de la fase floral de cinco especies: Heliconia wagneriana, Heliconia stricta, Heliconia rostrata, Heliconia bihai y Heliconia ortotricha. De ellas Heliconia wagneriana se comportó como la más precoz con 232,66 días en lo que respecta a la fase vegetativa y siendo la más tardía Heliconia rostrata con 444, días. Así mismo el tiempo transcurrido para el inicio de la fase floral en las cinco especies de Heliconia fue de 424,17 días para Heliconia rostrata; 245,83 para Heliconia stricta; 241,33 para Heliconia bihai; 234,33 para Heliconia ortotricha y 215 días para Heliconia wagneriana. Palabras clave: fenología, fase floral, fase vegetativa, Heliconia, precoz, tardía. ABSTRACT The phenological stages at Heliconias are presented differently in each area of life. They are also characteristic of the identities of different ethnographic groups in tropical America. However, information regarding the botanical characterization of chacras is scant. In tropical rural communities, there is a gender bias hypothesis that makes women potential reservoirs of traditional chacras plant knowledge. We present an experimental study in order to demonstrate if this knowledge difference really exists and to plan accordingly. We performed workshops in an isolated Kichwa community from Amazonian Ecuador. We calculated the cultural signififcance index (CSI) for 97 local flora plants. Our results revealed statistically significant differences. They were coherent with the Kichwa worldview and the structure of their society. We concluded that gender perspective must be taken into account in biodiversity conservation programs, such as, for example, those to implement the resilient agricultural practices of tropical contexts promoted by The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2 (SGD2).

Ill ABSTRACT Plants of Heliconia stricta Huber 'Dwarf Jamaican' at different growth stages (1, 2, and 3 leaves per pseudostem) were treated with three different night temperature (15°, 20° and 25°C) under 8 hr daylength for U weeks. Pseudostems with 3 initial leaves and grown at 15°C night temperature had higher inflorescence production than plants with 1 or 2 initial leaves and grown at higher night temperature. The inflorescence production peaked at 19 weeks after the start of short daylength. Heliconia stricta 'Dwarf Jamaican' Huber, sympodial units in short (9 hr photoperiod) and long (approximately 16 hr photoperiod) daylengths were examined 1 year after planting from a single rhizome piece. An average of 4. generations were produced. The success and failure of sympodial units, their length and their relative angles were studied. The rhizome branching pattern might be hexagonal system. In the first generation, 4-2.5% of pseudostems grown under shortdaylength flowered while none of pseudostems grown under long daylength flowered. Pseudostem and inflorescence length were significantly longer in LD than in SD and increased with successive generations.

Hojas opuestas, dísticas, amplexicaules, sin estípulas, con un pecíolo corto o largo y una lámina entera, normalmente de gran tamaño, a veces ras- gada de forma irregular, con un nervio medio bien destacado y numerosos nervios laterales finos y paralelos. Inflorescencias terminales, erectas o colgantes, con brácte- as espatiformes (brácteas cincinales), espaciadas, bellamente coloreadas, dispuestas de forma dística o en espiral sobre un raquis central. Cada bráctea sustenta un núme- ro variable de flores que se disponen en una cima compacta; flores bisexuales, zigo- morfas, sustentadas por bractéolas carinadas (brácteas florales), con un perianto for- mado por 6 tépalos en dos series, (3 sépalos y 3 pétalos), cinco de los cuales están completamente unidos formando un tubo y el sexto se halla completamente libre. El androceo consta de 5 estambres fértiles y generalmente 1 estaminodio petaloide, con los filamentos unidos a los pétalos y las anteras ditecas, dehiscentes por hendiduras longitudinales. El gineceo posee un ovario ínfero, trilocular y con un rudimento seminal por lóculo, un estilo delgado y un estigma capitado o trilobulado. El fruto es drupáceo, generalmente de tonos azulados o metálicos, separándose en 3 pirenos carnosos que contienen 1 semilla. Las flores son polinizadas por colibríes o por murciélagos, según la zona geográfica.
