ABSTRACT. This study forms a review of the subfamily Tachininae in the northern slopes of the Alborz Mountains and northwestern Iran from 2010 to 2014. A total of 23 genera and 37 species belonging to 11 tribes of the subfamily Tachininae are reviewed. Among them, three genera and 11 species are new records to the fauna of Iran. The diverse superfamily Oestroidea with more than 15 000 known species includes among others blow flies, flesh flies, bot flies and the diverse tachinid flies. Oestroidea exhibit strikingly divergent morphological and ecological traits, but even with a variety of data sources and inferences there is no consensus on the relationships among major Oestroidea lineages. Phylogenomic inferences derived from targeted enrichment of ultraconserved elements or UCEs have emerged as a promising method for resolving difficult phylogenetic problems at varying timescales. To reconstruct phylogenetic relationships among families of Oestroidea, we obtained UCE loci exclusively derived from the transcribed portion of the genome, making them suitable for larger and more integrative phylogenomic studies using other genomic and transcriptomic resources. We analysed datasets containing 37–2077 UCE loci from 98 representatives of all oestroid families (except Ulurumyiidae and Mystacinobiidae) and seven calyptrate outgroups, with a total concatenated aligned length between 10 and 550 Mb. About 35% of the sampled taxa consisted of museum specimens (2–92 years old), of which 85% resulted in successful UCE enrichment.

The distribution of these bacteria in the Drosophila ovarian cells at different stages of oogenesis has been amply described. The pathways along which Wolbachia influences Drosophila oogenesis have been, so far, little studied. It is known that Wolbachia are abundant in the somatic stem cell niche of the Drosophila germarium. A checkpoint, where programmed cell death, or apoptosis, can occur, is located in region 2a/2b of the germarium, which comprises niche cells. Here we address the question whether or not the presence of Wolbachia in germarium cells can affect the frequency of cyst apoptosis in the checkpoint. Results: Our current fluorescent microscopic observations showed that the wMel and wMelPop strains had different effects on female germline cells of D. melanogaster. The Wolbachia strain wMel did not affect the frequency of apoptosis in cells of the germarium. The presence of the Wolbachia strain wMelPop in the D. melanogasterw1118 ovaries increased the number of germaria where cells underwent apoptosis in the checkpoint. Based on the appearance in the electron microscope, there was no difference in morphological features of apoptotic cystocytes between Wolbachia-infected and uninfected flies. Bacteria with normal ultrastructure and large numbers of degenerating bacteria were found in the dying cyst cells.

Juni 1998 Zweiflügler aus Bayern XIII (Diptera, Tachinidae) Klaus VON DER DUNK & Hans-Peter TSCHORSNIG Abstract This paper gives an overview on the occurence of 354 species of tachinid flies in Bavaria. Zusammenfassung Es werden Nachweise aus Bayern für 354 Arten von Raupenfliegen (Tachinidae) aufgelistet. Die sehr artenreiche Familie der Raupenfliegen (Tachinidae) nimmt im Naturhaushalt eine herausragende Stelle ein, da sich die Larven als Parasitoide in anderen Insekten (hauptsächlich Raupen) entwickeln. In Deutschland ist mit dem Vorkommen von rund 500 Arten zu rechnen, von denen zur Zeit 489 sicher nachgewiesen sind. Die vorliegende Arbeit soll erstmals eine Übersicht über das Vorkommen und die Verbreitung dieser Fliegen in Bayern geben. In der nachfolgenden Liste werden Nachweise für 354 Tachinidae aus Bayern aufgeführt; mehr als 400 Arten sind wahrscheinlich. Die in Bayern vorkommenden Tachinidae lassen sich mit TSCHORSNIG & HERTING (1994) bestimmen. Es wird empfohlen abweichende Befunde - vor allem bei aus Wirten gezogenem Material - überprüfen zu lassen, da die Bestimmung der Raupenfliegen wegen ihrer hohen Variabilität weiterhin schwierig bleibt. In der genannten Arbeit finden sich auch kurzgefaßte Angaben zur Verbreitung, Häufigkeit, Phänologie und Biologie der mitteleuropäischen Arten, so daß auf deren Wiederholung hier verzichtet werden kann.
