Some seasons start off with a bang with exceptional attendance at training bolstered by good new playing prospects & secured by our existing members backed up by four wins in a row and a positive vibe across the team and playing group and then there are other seasons where the season starts slow, no one to pick up the kit or anyone willing to take ownership. However how the season started is history, how the season eventuated is always what counts. Any amount of wins can be as infectious as any amount of losses but the amount of centuries, five wicket hauls or catches taken on the boundary doesn’t automatically pronounce winning a game. What it does do though is, sets up proceedings for the coming season & the further need to support players with similar standards in maintaining a competitive club. Winning is only one part to a successful club which is only ever achieved through active participation and as the season progressed a common club and community bond was formed through an active presence being achieved from active club participators from many of our graded players some of which playing their 1st year with the club. We thank all the new members for their much needed rejuvenated performances and inspiration brought to our club. There were some glimpses from other graded players and again from our graded season campaigners allowing established players to be rejuvenated in recapturing a certain enthusiastic playing style to again sparkle. The club saw some amazing personnel achievements as members came together fuelled by some of members girlfriends/wives also offering their time in playing key roles to allowing administrators to kick on through using the simple rule of accepting people not for their [playing ability] but more for their club involvement has allowed and enriched the club to grow. The creation of an additional C graded team through to challenging an association to look at all the facts in having a ruling overturned to honouring a man with a double ton saw this season stand as the year that amazing personnel achievements & 5 members winning awards through the association in putting the club back into a better position for a promising club filled with opportunities to creating a bang for seasons ahead. We as a club provide our member’s opportunities to play and at times require members extend their voluntary time back into the community to encourage other member’s awareness how a cricket clubs presence can make a difference within our community and to ensure that new or older members can always cherish from the clubs prosperity. This year saw Northbridge participate in the Centenary Northbridge Games and would like to extend a sincere thanks to all members that actively involved themself in a joint graded team in winning the day. Not only was it imperative that we attended but opened the door to schooling talented prospects. Another outreach was serving a sausage sizzle in car park of Bunning’s hardware where we raised $1500 that will go towards venue training. Page 9 of 50 Northbridge Cricket Club As an active Northbridge Cricket Club member and President for many years now, I urge other members to make an impression this season by extending their time in providing another platform to the already built platform prior to and during the season. These opportunities, I encourage all members to be active with their involvement as any raised funds goes to much needed resources. One of the hardest things to do in a sporting club is to motivate other people to being active voluntary contributors, even as far as expecting them to attend to club matters over family/work or personal time spaces. However, this year saw the Honourable Secretary in Mitch Nicholls step up and take a further commanding role. The Club extends their sincere thanks for an excellent effort when it was truly required. We would also like to thank David
