Born in a very small town in Louisiana and raised in North Carolina since the age of two, Mason was always interested in the visual arts. After beginning interior design school, he soon decided he would prefer instant gratification for his creations and designs. Mason went to Leon’s Beauty School in Greensboro North Carolina in 2000 and was taught by a talented Sebastian Platform Artist. He began working for a Leon’s Salon and instantly obtained a clientele but felt bored; he wanted more freedom to be able to create and design beautiful, healthy, amazing hair. He says that he “instantly knew that [he] wanted to create glamorous, avant- garde, edgy, breaking hairstyles but without being on a stage.” Mason moved to Los Angeles in 2003 to find new ways to pursue what he loved to do, while still working at a salon. Meeting people in the industry allowed him to begin a flourishing career that he loves. Mason has continued training for cuts and color with various product companies such as Tigi, Wella, Sebastian, and also the Vidal Sassoon Academy. He strives to give clients cuts and color that match their personality, lifestyle, and skin. He also makes sure that they will look great even when he is not around. 5 Mason has worked on music videos, commercials, editorials, TV shows, advertisements, and red carpet events. He has worked with celebrities such as Emily Blunt, Kelly Rutherford, Laura Prepon, Andrea Bowen, Gina Ravera, Meagan Good, Jennifer Westfeldt, Selena Gomez, and Audrina Patridge. He has also worked with esteemed photographers like John Russo, Jeff Vespa, and Andrew Macpherson. His work has been published in WWD, Nylon, Statement, Latina, and People. It is Mason’s passion for his job that facilitates the flawlessly beautiful end product. His ability to actualize cutting-edge looks with a sophisticated bite is what makes him such a successful hairstylist. Mason says, “I love the art of starting with nothing and ending up with a beautiful and wonderful creation.” 6 .

ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS: How Aaron Sorkin’s Sports Night Portrayed the Sports Journalist as a Modern, Educated Professional While Still Fitting the Classic Molds of Journalists in Popular Culture. By Eric Alvarez Abstract Aaron Sorkin’s Sports Night focuses on the events that unfold in the newsroom of a nightly sports highlight show. The impulse of the series stems from the relationships amongst the show’s two anchors, three producers and its managing editor. As individuals, the journalists are smart, talented and dedicated in their professional lives. Yet, despite their capabilities and professionalism, each echoes characteristics and faces problems similar to those of journalists in classic popular culture. They often put the job over their personal lives and struggle when faced with the consequences. But in the end, they always tend to band together as a newsroom family. * * * “Five minutes to air. First team in the studio.1” The voice echoes through the newsroom at 10:55 p.m. It is the nightly wake-up call for the Sports Night team. Journalists both in front of the camera and in the control room scramble as the clock ticks toward show time. And then it starts.
