U navedenom periodu postoji znatno više kvalitetnih naučnih radova o bh. fauni: Bayer, 1881; Talsky, 1882; Steindacher, 1882, 1886; Mitis, 1882; Platz, 1883; Dabrowski, 1884; Kadish, 1885; Seunik, 1887; i dr. U spomenutom periodu najdragocjeniji su zbirni pregledi određenih skupina u Bosni i Hercegovini: mekušci - Kobelt, 1897, diplopode - Verhoeff, 1898, zareznici - Knotek, 1892, dvokrilci - Strobl, 1898a, 1898b, leptira - Rebel, 1904; tulari i mrežokrilci - Klapalek, 1899, žohari i pravokrilaci - Werner, 1904, mravi - Wasmann, 1898 vodozemci i gmizavaci - Tommasini, 1889a, 1889b, 1889c, 1890a, 1890b, 1890c, 1894; Werner, 1898, 1904 (Kotrošan, 2005-2011). Poseban poticaj navedenim istraživanjima dalo je osnivanje Biološkog instituta 1946. godine (Bjelčić, 1988), a nedugo iza toga i osnivanje niza fakulteta (Prirodno-matematički, Šumarski, Vetrinarski, Poljoprivredni) unutar Univerziteta u Sarajevu (Kotrošan, 2005-2011). Ipak do 1960. godine bilo je malo istraživanja pa vrijedi izdvojiti tek: istraživanja Kirila, Viktora i Elene Martino (Bjelčić, 1988; Hamzabegović i sar., 2002; Lelo, 2004; Obratil, 1967; Šenk, 1980), istraživanja izopoda od strane kustosa Zemaljskog muzeja Adem Buturović (Mikšić, 1980a, Hamzabegović i sar., 2002) te radove Vendela (izopoda), Stankovića (turbelarije) i Živkovića (simulide; Marinković-Gospodnetić i sar., 1980; Mikšić, 1980a, Mučibabić, 1980), kao i brojne radove o parazitofauni u Bosni i Hercegovini (Čanković i Rozman, 1980). U periodu iza 1960. godine najintezivnije je proučavana entomofauna uz brojne inostrane istraživače (Alberti, Aubert, Botosaneanu, Carnelluti, Drovenik, Jakšić, Karaman, Lorković, Nosek, Rauh, i dr.) pored niza bh. stručnjaka. Jelve Batinice i dr. Adema Tafre; ali i hobista poput Bore Mihljevića koji je svojim sakupljačkim i istraživačkim radom dao značajan doprinos poznavanju bosanskohercegovačke faune dnevnih leptira Bosne i Hercegovine (Kotrošan, 2003b, 2005-2011; Lelo, 2004, 2007; Sijarić, 1980). U skupinu intenzivno proučavanih insekata spadaju i tvrdokrilci. Dragica Kaćanski (Plecoptera i Diptera), dr. Jelena Živadinović i dr. Milutin Cvijović (Collembola i Protura; Marinković-Gospodnetić i sar., 1980; Živadinović, 1980; Kotrošan, 2005-2011).

Species distribution will be affected and some species are anticipated to be winners (increasing their range) or losers (at risk of extinction). Climate change vulnerability is seldom integrated when assessing threat status for lists of species at risk (Red Lists), even though this might appear an important addition in the current context.

Executive Summary Aim Environmental assessment of hydropower facilities commonly includes means of fish assem- blage impact metrics, as e.g. injuries or mortality. However, this hardly allows for conclusion at the population or community level. To overcome this significant knowledge gap and to enable more efficient assessments, this task aimed in developing a fish species classification system according to their species-specific sensitivity against mortality. As one result, most sensitive fish species were identified as suitable candidates for in depth population effects and impact studies. Another objective was providing the biological and autecological baseline for developing a fish population hazard index for the European fish fauna. Methods The literature has been extensively reviewed and analysed for life history traits of fish providing resilience against and recovery from natural disturbances. The concept behind is that species used to cope with high natural mortality have evolved buffer mechanisms against, which might also foster recovery from human induced disturbances.

Email: [email protected] [Division of Invertebrate Zoology, American Museum of Natural History, New York; California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco; School of Animal Biology, University of Western Australia, Crawley, Western Australia 6009, Australia]. ABSTRACT – Two new species of Synsphyronus, S. francesae and S. ellenae, are described from southern Western Australia. These species occur on granite outcrops where they congregate under exfoliating pieces of granite. Synsphyronus francesae occurs near the south coast of Western Australia, while S. ellenae occurs in the central wheatbelt region. Synsphyronus ellenae is the fi rst species of the genus with an adult trichobothrial pattern of six trichobothria on the fi xed fi nger and two on the moveable fi nger (6/2), although some variation was observed with fi ve or seven trichobothria occasionally present. All other species of Synsphyronus have patterns of 8/3, 8/2, 8/1, 7/2 or 7/1. The only other species of Garypidae with a 6/2 pattern is Meiogarypus mirus Beier from Namibia, and the only species with lower trichobothrial numbers are Elattogarypus cruciatus Beier from South Africa, E. somalicus Mahnert from Somalia, E. cicatrosus Mahnert from the Yemeni island of Socotra, and Eremogarypus eximius Beier from Namibia, each with a 5/1 pattern.
