DTS to Bring Connected Surround Sound Experience to Central Hall at 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show

Booth to Feature Technology Demonstrations, New Partnerships and Audio Spotlight Presentations with Live Performances

CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- DTS, Inc. (Nasdaq: DTSI), a leader in high-definition audio, will make its debut in Central Hall at booth #9443 for the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show, taking place Jan. 10-Jan. 13 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Booth visitors will enjoy an array of exhibits showcasing high-quality audio technology demonstrations and previews, with the opportunity to learn about DTS' latest industry partnerships. Additionally, attendees will experience firsthand how today's devices—from on-the-go mobile to connected TV platforms—rely on DTS audio solutions to deliver an enriched audio experience. To complement the technology demonstrations, DTS will host a daily "Audio Spotlight" series, featuring guest presentations by the following notable audio professionals:

Š Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis — producers/song writers (, Mariah Carey, Usher)

Š Alan Parsons—producer/artist (, Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons Project)

Š Avila Brothers—producers/song writers (Usher, Janet Jackson); joined by Internet sensation The Roney Boys

Š Diego Stocco—sound designer/composer (Takers, Sherlock Holmes)

Š Elliot Scheiner—audio engineer (, The Eagles)

Acclaimed Audio Engineer, Musician and Producer Alan Parsons commented, "I am honored to take the DTS stage at CES this year. Together we will shine a light on the art and science of sound recording, exploring how the technical aspects of music creation and content delivery are married to the emotional responses they evoke. As consumers, we all know what good sound feels like and how we respond to it; these presentations will peel back the layers to reveal the DTS technology behind each powerful reaction."

With more and more consumers viewing content on mobile devices, manufacturers must address both audio and visual components equally. As such, post-processing technologies are becoming a requirement for manufacturers to offer high- quality entertainment experiences. The small speakers typically found in compact devices pose severe performance limitations that degrade sound quality. In order to bring superior audio to consumers despite form factor restrictions, DTS offers innovative technologies—DTS Boost™ and DTS Envelo™—that help maintain the integrity of an immersive and realistic audio experience. The industry has acknowledged the importance of audio in mobile devices, and the significance of DTS technology, by naming the company an International CES Innovations 2012 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree for integration of its technologies with the T-Mobile G2x with Google by LG.

Along with the burgeoning number of devices that allow content to be enjoyed anytime, anywhere, consumers are seeking instant access to streaming digital HD content that boasts the same high quality surround sound experience. Most content owners and retailers leverage compression to keep pace with digital delivery models; however, compression ultimately compromises sound quality. DTS provides efficient and scalable audio digital delivery solution that does not compromise audio and delivers exciting audio entertainment across multiple platforms.

"Today's consumer expects high-quality audio - whether listening to music in the car, watching a Blu-ray, playing video games at home, or viewing entertainment on a smartphone or tablet device," said Brian Towne, executive vice president and chief operating officer of DTS, Inc. "At DTS, we continue to innovate audio technologies that adapt to and help shape the ever-evolving content ecosystem. We look forward to unveiling our latest technologies at the show and previewing with our partners the products that will hit the market this year."

New at CES 2012

In addition to the inaugural artist "Audio Spotlight" series, DTS will unveil new industry partnerships and technology integrations in Central Hall at booth 9443 during CES 2012. DTS experts will also be on hand to discuss the digital delivery workflow to connected TVs, set-top boxes and other platforms that ultimately impact the developing entertainment consumption model, and provide insight into how industry associations like the Ultraviolet Consortium are addressing these content needs at the consumer level.
