Good Shepherd Catholic Radio Mission Statement Good Shepherd Catholic Radio has been established as a lay Catholic education apostolate to communicate Christian truth as expressed in Sacred Scripture, Sa- cred Tradition, and by the Magisterium of the Catholic Church via radio. This apostolate intends to operate one or more stations to broadcast Catholic religious and educational programs aimed at upholding and strengthening the Catholic faith, originate local programming focusing on local Catholic events, broadcast Catholic news of local, national, and international significance, and assist the Diocese of Lansing, parish schools, and Catholic organizations with public service announcements both on the air and on our website. STRONG FAITH, STRONG FAMILIES 2nd Quarter 2020 GSCR and the COVID-19 Pandemic As is the case in every area of activity, the COVID-19 Pandemic has caused disruptions in the event schedule of Good Shepherd Catholic Radio. The GSCR Spring On-Air Fundraiser scheduled for late March has been cancelled, as it has been for all EWTN affiliate radio stations throughout the country. And the Catholic Authors of Michigan Book Sale scheduled for early April has been rescheduled until early June. Fortunately, all daily broadcasts of our regular radio programming will continue without disruption. During this time, we hope that our listeners, both regular and newly acquired, will appreciate the many unique Catholic programming options that Good Shepherd Catholic Radio provides, including the regular daily personalities, our locally produced programs, and the special religious activities and masses. Although everyone may not be able to attend church ser- vices and other events, it is our hope that GSCR may help to sustain our Catholic faith community during this crisis. Please remember that Good Shepherd Catholic Radio depends on the support of our listeners for the operating funds necessary to continue to broadcast the Catholic programs that our listeners enjoy. Please keep us in your prayers and consider providing a donation when possible as the COVID-19 Pandemic situation improves.— And Thank You! Catholic Authors of Michigan Good Shepherd Catholic Radio will be hosting another Catholic Authors of Michigan Book Sale event this year. The Book Sale has been rescheduled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic to be held on Saturday, June 13th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Vincentian Hall at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Church, located at 1111 Carlton Blvd, Jackson, MI 49203. Catholic authors will be on hand to discuss their work and autograph their books. A live broadcast of author interviews will be conducted by Bill Kassel of the GSCR Free Expression program and Deacon Tom Loewe from the EWTN Notes From Above program during the event. Be sure to come on down or listen to GSCR radio to participate in this popular event. Resurrexit Sicut Dixit—He Is Risen, As He Said. So far I’ve heard of just one Es event just before Christmas that very briefly made it to FM and another Es event that was noticed by Chris Dunne down in Florida that went briefly to FM from Colombia. F2 skip faded away somewhat as the solar flux dropped down to the 130s. So, all in all, December has been mostly uneventful. But keep looking because anything can still happen. We’ve prepared a “State of the Club” message for this issue.
