Delicious individual Christmas cakes were cooked, marzipaned and decorated, then finished off with cellophane and ribbon to give the professional look! O n Monday two choirs from Changing Voices and Taverner Perform in Hall for Cornwall Richard Lander took part in a Showcase of young Cornish talent in the Hall for Cornwall. After a series of sketches from several schools Changing Voices and the Taverner Choir brought the event to a close with performances of ‘Kernow bys Vyken’ and ‘Camborne Hill’. We have always had a reputation for our choirs, but at the moment we are in halcyon days as the choirs are on tremendous form. They wowed the audience with their virtuosity and versatility. All bodes well for the forthcoming Cornwall Music Festival when they will be representing the school. RICHARD LANDER SCHOOL WEEKLY BULLETIN : 17th2nd FebruaryMay 2013 2015 5 5 5 SPORTS REPORT Year 8 County Hockey Tournament W ell done the Year 8 Hockey team who took part in the County Hockey Tournament last Tuesday and, despite many of the girls feeling under the weather, made it through to the semi finals. The team qualified in the Pool Section with a 1—0 win over Penrice, a 5—0 win over Newquay Treviglas, a 7-0 win over Redruth and a 1-0 loss to Bude. The quarter final saw Lander play Mounts Bay, and with the score still at -2 2 after extra time, the match went to very nerve wracking sudden death penalties, which Lander won. In the semi-final, Lander once again met Bude, and eventually lost the match 2—0 but played really well and created several opportunities to score. U16 Girls Football County Cup Final 2015 D espite stinging hail, the U15 Girls Football team put in a valiant performance during the County Thursday 30th January Cup final, at Cornwall College, on U16 Girls Football County Thursday. On the day, opposition Cup Final 2015 Brannel School were stronger and Richard Lander School the final result reflected this, but - v- Brannel School the girls put up a good fight until the last whistle and were still smiling as they collected their runners up medals. Well done to all who took part, 2nd best in Spring Term Sports Fixtures are now on the Cornwall is a fantastic achievement school website www.richardlander.co.uk and Brannel certainly didn’t have it all their own way.. These are free cards, although there are some websites that charge, you should avoid these sites.
