Huda Department of Botany, University of Chittagong, Chittagong 4331, Bangladesh Abstract The study aimed at determining the status of occurrence of the orchid treasure of Bangladesh for providing data for Planning National Conservation Strategy and Development of Conservation Management. 54 orchid species are assessed to be presumably lost from the flora of Bangladesh due to environmental degradation and ecosystem depletion. The assessment of their status of occurrence was made based on long term field investigation, collection and identification of orchid taxa; examination and identification of herbarium specimens preserved at CAL, E, K, DACB, DUSH, BFRIH,BCSIRH, HCU; and survey of relevant upto date floristic literature. These species had been recorded from the present Bangladesh territory for more than 50 to 100 years ago, since then no further report of occurrence or collection from elsewhere in Bangladesh is available and could not be located to their recorded localities through field investigations. Of these, 29 species were epiphytic in nature and 25 terrestrial. More than 41% of these taxa are economically very important for their potential medicinal and ornamental values. Enumeration of these orchid taxa is provided with updated nomenclature, bangla name(s) and short annotation with data on habitats, phenology, potential values, recorded locality, global distribution conservation status and list of specimens available in different herbaria. The following six phytogeographic regions (at the rank of floristic province) are distinguished and outlined within eastern Indochina: Sikang-Yunnan Province, South Chinese Province, North Indochinese Province, Central Annamese Province, South Annamese Province and South Indochinese Province. Short descriptions of these floristic units are given along with analysis of their floristic relationships. Special floristic analysis and consideration are given to the Orchidaceae as the largest well-studied representative of the Indochinese flora. 1. 2. Project Description
Consultancy Agreement No. NEX/2301 South Island Line (East) Environmental Impact Assessment 2. Project Description 2.1 Project Background The South Island Line (SIL) was originally proposed as part of the Second Railway Development Study (RDS-2) completed in May 2000 as an extension to the existing railway network to serve the Southern District of Hong Kong. In June 2002, MTRCL submitted a preliminary proposal for a medium-capacity SIL, which involved a monorail system looping from University Station of the planned West Island Line (WIL) to the southern part of Hong Kong Island and back to Wanchai Station of the existing Island Line (ISL). The study identified that SIL would not be commercially viable without Government’s funding support. Subsequently, MTRCL further developed the proposed SIL as part of a Feasibility Study (FS) entitled “West Island Line and South Island Line Feasibility Study” which was completed in March 2004. After an evaluation of various alternative options, the FS recommended the implementation of the proposed SIL(E) from South Horizons to Admiralty, via intermediate stations at Lei Tung, Wong Chuk Hang and Ocean Park, for serving the Southern District and provision of a necessary depot at Wong Chuk Hang to support the operation of SIL, amongst other recommendations related to WIL. The FS also evaluated the feasibility of providing additional intermediate stations at Happy Valley and Wanchai. In February 2005, MTRCL submitted a project proposal to the Government for phased implementation of the SIL and WIL. In December 2007, the Executive Council gave the green light for MTRCL to proceed with preliminary planning and design of the SIL(E), which will be a medium capacity railway line running from Admiralty to South Horizons, with three intermediate stations at Ocean Park, Wong Chuk Hang and Lei Tung. -

Press release and high-resolution images can be downloaded via the following link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1uzadBWFndlxLwds6x7TN7WahvwdK3cU_ For Immediate Release Race starts this weekend for MSIG Ultra @ Tai Po Double category newly added for a combined race distance of 119km The Singaporean pair shared their strategy [Hong Kong, March 27, 2019] Over the persistent peaks of the Pat Sin Leng Range, Hong Kong’s most promising young trail runners are set to battle at the MSIG Ultra @ Tai Po on Saturday March 30 for more than a podium place. As the second qualifying event of the MSIG Youth Trail Running Development Programme, the 18-kilometre race will decide which four local trail runners will make the cut for the year-long training programme. While these young runners double down, a few others will double up — in the Double Category, which is also new for this year’s MSIG Ultra triumvirate of events. Participants will run the 75km on Saturday followed by the 44km the following day, for a total of 119 treacherous kilometres. The 75km and 18km races will be held on Saturday March 30, while the 44km will be held on Sunday March 31. Both the 75km and 44km races will start and finish at The Country Club at Hong Lok Yuen in Tai Po, while the 18km is a point-to-point course that will start on Bride’s Pool Road at Tai Mei Tuk and finish at Hong Lok Yuen. All distances will traverse the Pat Sin Leng range and Cloudy Hill, arguably the toughest climbs of the courses. -

The directions of summer winds are ranging from the East, Southerly quarters, and the West. There is a strong east-west channeling at/near ground level due to the surrounding topography. 0.2 Topography (a) For background wind coming from the northeast and southeast, the wind profiles and characteristics will be affected by hills. Turbulence and re-circulation of wind when it moves downhill towards the study area is expected.
