Registration for and Assignment to Post- Primary Schools Registration for and Assignment to Post- Primary Schools This page includes: State schools State religious schools Arab schools In Tel Aviv-Yafo, students transition to post-primary education upon entering junior high in Grade 7. During November, Grade 6 students at municipal schools will receive a text message containing their assignment for the next school year. The assignment is determined according to the education region the primary school they study at belongs to. In the next school year (5782-2021-22), there will be 27 6-year schools and 10 3-4 year schools operating in the city. Students who wish to apply for another assignment or those who are required to conduct other registration processes (changing of stream, external studies, etc.) can do so in the ways and at the times set forth on this page. Assignment to Grade 7 in state education is established according to the education region your primary school belongs to. You will be able to verify the school you belong to in the table of education regions appearing below on this page. When do I receive the assignment? The assignment notice will be sent to you by text message by the end of November. If you have not received the assignment notice for any reason, you can contact the Education Service Center using the contact information at the bottom of this page. Can I change an assignment to a post-primary school? If you wish to choose a post-primary school outside of your education region, you can submit a request for transfer to an assignment outside your education region. You can submit the request in the registration and assignment system on this page on March 7-11, 2021 only. The system will allow you to select one possible assignment and will send you confirmation that your request has been recorded at the end of the submission process. We recommend keeping this confirmation. If the number of students asking to be assigned to a given post-primary school exceeds the number of places established for that school, a draw among students will be held. If, for any reason, you wish to cancel your request for a change in assignment outside of your education region, you can do so only from March 7 to 11, 2021. If you have not been able to log back into the Registration and Assignment System, send a request and explanation with your personal information by email to: [email protected] or by fax to: 03-5216428. How do I register for supra-regional schools? Supra-regional schools (Ironi Heh – Mofet classes; Ironi Aleph – art study units, Yitzhak Shamir – Olympic class; the Open Democratic School; Ironi Tet – the Soccer Academy; Tichon Hadash – the Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball Academy) are allowed to pick from all students of the city from all education regions. Admission to these schools requires passing aptitude tests and a personal interview, in coordination with the school. Accordingly, these study units will not appear in the assignment change options in the Registration and Assignment System. Further information on admission procedures that are unique to sports classes, gifted student classes, yeshiva (religious boys), Ulpana (religious girls) classes, and more may be found in the registration leaflets published on this page. How do I register for specialized schools? If you are interested in applying to one of the specialized, nine- year schools (art, nature, A.D. Gordon), submit a transfer request at your school’s secretariat, in the primary school registration period, from January 14 to February 3, 2021. When are transfer request answers received? Answers to transfer requests will appear in the system on this page from May 2 to May 12, 2021. If your request for transfer to a school that is outside your educational region is received, the new assignment will appear, and your place in the original education region to which you were assigned will not be saved. If your request has not been accepted or received, your original assignment will appear in the system. Can I submit an appeal after the answers are announced? Only those who have submitted a transfer request for an assignment outside of their education region and whose request has been rejected may appeal through the Registration and Assignment System on May 2-12, 2021. The final assignment will appear in the system on this page from June 10, 2021. Please note: Answers are final. In case of further inquiries about the assignment, contact the Ministry of Education’s District Director’s Office. What else do I do after receiving the assignment notice? After receiving your final assignment, you must complete registration at the secretariat of the post-primary school to which you were assigned in June according to a summons from the school principal. To this end, you must bring: A photocopy of your sixth grade end-of-year report card. A photocopy of the identity card of one parent, with the appendix containing your personal information. A photocopy of your vaccination book. 4 passport photographs. Means of payment. How do I cancel registration for a post-primary school after moving to another city or registering for private education? If you are moving to another city or country or transferring to private education, you must cancel your registration. To be able to register in the new city or setting, you must bring confirmation that your registration for the municipal school was cancelled. Send your request to the Education Service Center, using the contact information below, using the cancellation registration form, signed by both parents, and with the following documents: A photocopy of the identity cards of both parents, with their appendices open. The home contract at the new address When moving to a private setting, attach confirmation from your new school. You may cancel registration at any time, but we recommend doing so as soon as possible. Requests to cancel a registration submitted during the registration period will be processed within four work days. Please note: After the cancellation notice, your spot at the school you were assigned to will not be reserved. We are residents of Tel Aviv Yafo, but our children are studying at a primary school outside the city or in a private school. Can we register them for a post-primary school in the city? If you live in Tel Aviv Yafo, but are studying at a primary school outside the city, at a private school or a recognized unofficial school, you must fill in and send a request for registration form for post-primary schools, along with the following documents: A customer number for a municipal tax bill or a rental contract valid for 12 months, or a sale contract with a home entry date that is not later than December 31, 2021. A photocopy of the identity cards, including updated appendices, of both parents. The student’s last report card / evaluation certificate. In the case of a single, divorced, widowed, separated independent parent, an independent parent affidavit is to be filled in. Send the documents to the Education Service Center, using the below contact information. For students registering by February, the assignment notice will appear in the registration and assignment system on March 7-11. Assignment to the education region will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. If there is no place available in the education region, the municipality will assign the student to the education region closest to their home address. At this time, a transfer request may be submitted. For students registering in March or April, the assignment notice will appear in the Registration and Asignment System from May 2 to 12. Assignment to Grade 8 or above: Responses on assignments will be given in the Registration and Assignment System in July. • My Life Story Malca Flasterstein
My Life Story Malca Flasterstein Josie Raborar, Storykeeper Acknowledgement As we near the consummation of the Ethnic Life Stories Project, there is a flood of memories going back to the concept of the endeavor. The awareness was there that the project would lead to golden treasures. But I never imagined the treasures would overflow the storehouse. With every Story Teller, every Story Keeper, every visionary, every contributor, every reader, the influence and impact of the project has multiplied in riches. The growth continues to spill onward. As its outreach progresses, "boundaries" will continue to move forward into the lives of countless witnesses. Very few of us are "Native Americans." People from around the world, who came seeking freedom and a new life for themselves and their families, have built up our country and communities. We are all individuals, the product of both our genetic makeup and our environment. We are indeed a nation of diversity. Many of us are far removed from our ancestors who left behind the familiar to learn a new language, new customs, new political and social relationships. We take our status as Americans for granted. We sometimes forget to welcome the newcomer. We bypass the opportunity to ask about their origins and their own journey of courage. But, wouldn't it be sad if we all spoke the same language, ate the same food, and there was no cultural diversity. This project has left me with a tremendous debt of gratitude for so many. The almost overwhelming task the Story Keeper has, and the many hours of work and frustration to bring forth a story to be printed.
