Service Impacts: To accommodate the track renewal construction, it will be necessary to close the west side of the Addison station platform for a three-week period, from 10pm, Sunday, March 10 to midday Saturday, March 30. During this period, trains toward 95th will stop on the side normally used by Howard-bound trains, and trains traveling toward Howard will bypass Addison. Customers who want to board or exit Howard-bound trains at Addison will be required to “back-ride”, which means to ride to the next stop, exit and board a train in the opposite direction: • For Howard-bound service from Addison station, take a 95th-bound train to Belmont and transfer to a Howard-bound train on the opposite platform. • For Howard-bound service to Addison station, take an Howard-bound train to Sheridan (or Wilson, if an ADA-accessible trip is needed) and transfer to a 95th-bound train on the opposite platform back to Addison. In addition, Addison will be temporarily closed two weekends to accommodate advance and fi nishing work supporting the track renewal project: 10pm, Friday, March 8 to 10pm, Sunday, March 10 and midday Saturday, March 30 to 4am, Monday, April 1. During the temporary closures, free bus shuttle service will be provided between Belmont and Addison stations. With the exception of customers who use the Addison station, riders will see little to no impacts to service. Alternate Service: Riding back in the opposite direction to board your desired train is expected to add time to the average trip, especially during off-peak and late night periods. It is also expected that the partial closure of the platform will result in crowding, especially during rush periods, which may affect travel times. Allow extra travel time, and consider altering your trip to use a different station or line to avoid crowding and longer trip times. If you live within a 1/2-mile north or south of Addison Street, consider using the adjacent Belmont station or Sheridan station, where trains will stop in both directions at all times. You can use the #77 Belmont and #80 Irving Park buses to connect to these stations. You can also use the #152 Addison or #80 bus to connect to the Brown Line farther west for trips to downtown. Also consider north-south buses in the area, such as the #36 Broadway on Broadway or the #151 Sheridan or Lake Shore Drive express buses on Inner Lake Shore Drive for trips to/from downtown or north lakefront destinations. 19gg005 Addison Red Track Project + Impact Poster - Impacts.

  • NEIGHBORHOOD PROTECTION REPORT Dear Neighbors
2019 NEIGHBORHOOD PROTECTION REPORT Dear Neighbors, Thank you for your support of the Chicago Cubs in 2019. Each year, we are proud to share with the community our efforts aimed at protecting and enhancing the quality of life for Lakeview residents, while ensuring the fan and visitor experience at Wrigley Field is the best in baseball. The work to expand and preserve Wrigley Field continued this year and the Cubs reached new levels in support for community and charitable activities. Through our investment of more than $1 million, we helped reduce traffic congestion in the area, proactively communicated to residents about events and activities in the neighborhood and helped keep our community clean and safe. Our notable achievements in 2019 are highlighted in this report. Among them: • Nearly 54,000 fans used the remote parking lot at 3900 N. Rockwell Street and took the shuttle bus to and from Wrigley Field, helping alleviate traffic in the neighborhood. • Nearly 4,000 bicyclists took advantage of the free valet service down the block from the ballpark, further reducing traffic and air pollution in the area. • Our neighborhood newsletter provided regular updates about events inside and outside the ballpark, including impacts to parking, traffic in the area and construction activity. • We continued to help deter crime and keep our neighborhood clean by funding programs such as Safe at Home and trash removal in Lakeview. We also are proud of our investments in the community. In 2019, the Cubs and Cubs Charities supported millions of dollars in charitable grants and donations to deserving nonprofit organizations in the neighborhood and throughout Chicago.

The landmark designation process begins with a staff study and a preliminary summary of information related to the potential designation criteria. The next step is a preliminary vote by the land- marks commission as to whether the proposed landmark is worthy of consideration. This vote not only initiates the formal designation process, but it places the review of city permits for the property under the jurisdiction of the Commission until a final landmark recommendation is acted on by the City Council. This Landmark Designation Report is subject to possible revision and amendment during the designation process. • January 26, 2015 Csnchicago.Com Mr. Cub: Ernie Banks Did It His Way
January 26, 2015 CSNChicago.com Mr. Cub: Ernie Banks did it his way By Patrick Mooney A man walked down Addison Street late Saturday morning with a bouquet of flowers, placing it at the makeshift shrine outside Wrigley Field. A white No. 14 jersey hung from the railing. A Cubs hat, a Cubs helmet, at least one opened Budweiser can and a homemade poster lined the sidewalk. People held up their iPhones to take pictures of the memorial and the name in lights on the marquee: Ernie Banks did it his way. That usually implies a bully with a big ego, a loner making enemies while getting ahead. But for Mr. Cub, this always meant killing them with kindness. That begins to explain the outpouring of emotions in Chicago and all across the country. The team’s official press release on Friday night did not identify a cause of death for Banks, who would have celebrated his 84th birthday on Jan. 31. “He (meant) so much to Chicago fans,” Hall of Famer Billy Williams said. “He was always that positive guy. And when I got the news, it’s just like somebody shot bullets through my heart.” Banks was closing in on his second straight National League MVP Award when Williams made his big-league debut in 1959. The All-Star shortstop put up 92 homers and 272 RBI during that unbelievable two-year period. Banks always seemed to enjoy the moment, never bothered by the attention or burdened by the fame. He loved talking to behind-the-scenes employees at Wrigley Field, and interacting with fans young and old, and bantering with the media.
