Message From The Cultural Attaché UAE National Day Our Embassy celebrated UAE’s 46th National Day, hosted by Am- bassador Yousef Al Otaiba, highlighting how the UAE and US are “United in Prosperity” and working together to deepen trade and economic relations for the mutual benefit of UAE and USA UAE Commemoration Day Honoring our heroes who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country in pursuit of securing peace and prosper- ity, Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba led diplomats and staff in a mo- ment of silence in observation of UAE Commemoration Day. Flag Day Diplomats and staff of our Embassy in Washington, DC celebrated Flag Day on 11/02/2017 by raising our flag, a symbol of unity, strength, loyalty and in honor of past and present leaders and citizens who sacrificed in the pursuit of peace and prosperity. UAE Students’ Forum 2017 Our Embassy in Washington organized the 8th Annual UAE Students' Fo- rum, from November 23 to 25, 2017 in the presence of Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan bin Zayed, Al Nhyan, Sheikh Zayed bin Mohammed bin Zayed AL Nhyan, Sheikh Mohammed bin Tahnoon AL Nhyan, as well as Dr. Ahmed Bahloul the Minister of State for Higher Education, Sara Al Amiri the Min- ister of State for Advanced Science and Ohoud Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness . Members of the World Youth Council Students presented their experience as members of the youth council in the United States and other countries. Official Guests from the UAE Customarily, during the Students Forum, our Embassy hosts nu- merous of officials from the government and different private sec- tors in the UAE. They provide opportunity to during the student’s forum as the students got the to meet with them from different public and private sectors, who provided job opportunities to our students through the job fair. The forum also encourages students to strive for educational achievement and develop perseverance . UAE Students Forum 2017 Future Leaders Forum The Future Leaders Forum was hosted in Los Angeles for the third year to bring Emirati students on the West Coast together. The high- level speaker was H. E. Dr. Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education. Ambassador Yousuf Al Otaiba Promoted to Rank of Minister Our Embassy supported & participated in Breast Cancer Awareness Student life in the United States Film In October and November, the Cultural Division hosted Nahla Al Fahad to produce a video about student life in the United States in an effort to promote study abroad opportunities in the US. With the assistance of the Cultural Division, Ms. Al Fahad was able to visit univer- sities in three Metro areas to interview UAE students and display their lives as international students in the US. Ms. Al Fahad began in the DC area, where she met students Sultan Salem Almansoori and Mohamed Eissa Almehairbi, two undergradu- ates from American University; Khawla Hasan Alhebsi, a graduate student at George Mason University; Wafa Khamis Alnakhi, a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University; and Ab- duljaleel Saeed Alfaheem, an undergraduate from George Washington University. She then traveled to Tempe, Arizona and was welcomed by students and staff at Ari- zona State University. There, she interviewed and filmed Abdulrahman Mohamed Al- madani, Mohamed Ebrahim AlNuwais, Abdulla Hamad Alshamsi and Hanan Sami Alhashmi. Her final stop was to the Los Angeles area, where she got to meet and film Meera Jamal Almidfa, a Master of Fine Arts student studying Directing from the American Film Institute. She had the opportunity to film Ms. Midfa and her team working on their thesis project. She also met with two PhD students studying Leadership: Ebtesam Ali Altenaiji from University of San Diego, who traveled to L.A. to help with the project, and Fatma Juma Alblooshi from Pepperdine University. She also visited the University of Southern California campus and interviewed Abdulla Jasem Alman- soori, a Masters degree student in Computer Science. What do You Know about Ajman University? Ajman University located in the Emirate of Ajman. The University was founded by His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi on July 17, 1988. The Univer- sity offers 28 accredited undergraduate programs and 11 graduate programs. For More Information: Please visit www.ajman.ac.ae Email: [email protected] The Cultural Division contributes قصص نجاح in Student’s Success Story Thuraiya Alhashmi Thuraiya Alhashmi graduated the last summer from Tufts University, the Fletcher School of Law and Di- plomacy, with a master’s degree in International Business focusing on strategic mana gement and interna- tional consultancy. The cultural Division helped Thuraiya to find a full time job in the Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington (AGSIW) doing research related to gender, economic diversifica- tion, and technology. The exposure she got by working with the institute has helped her grow a professional network in Washington and the Arab Gulf. We advice our students to take advantage of this opportunity to get internship or training program in the U.S. This kind of experi- ence can help students to enhance and strength the knowledge they learned in the classroom. قصص نجاح Success Story Mohamed Alhosani Mohamed Alhosani graduated from Oregon Tech in June 2017 with a degree in Renewable Energy- Electrical Engineering and minored in Applied Mathematics. He was chosen as the outstanding student of the Electrical Engineering class of 2017. Due to his active participation in the cam- pus life and determination, he was awarded as the most dedicated student Award. Mohamed was also chosen as the winner of the President's Senior Cup for the College of Engineering, Technology, and Man- agement. He was also helped developing laboratory experiments for one of the electrical classes (Electricity and Magnetism with Transmission Lines), and presented at the ASEE Section Conference along with his advisor. ألف مربوك اي محمد... Success Story قصص نجاح Mohammad Khoori Mohammad Khoori, Ministry of Education scholarship student. He graduated from Arizona State University in Spring 2017 Magna-Cum Laude with a degree in Entre- preneurship. Mohammad is the founder of Vendors.ae, a multi-vendor e-commerce service designed to assist small businesses in the United Arab Emirates. He is try- ing to help small enterprises in carrying out sales and ul- timately developing a stronger online presence. Khoori came up with the startup idea while he was in Dubai. He realized that there is a great need for a platform like Vendors.ae. Now that he achieved part of his goal, Mohammad is planning to announce other services to empower local businesses in the digital era and help their businesses accelerate. ألف مربوك اي محمد...
