Greetings, Bobcat Families! I don’t know about you, but I can feel Spring trying to “March” into Burbank but I’m afraid St. Patrick’s Day may find us bundled up as we attend the parades or various activities around our Southside town. Speak- ing of the Irish, the Bobcat Literacy Enrichment team has interviewed some of our proud Irish staff mem- bers in order to learn about some of the traditional activities shared with their families during this special holiday. Be sure to check out our video found on my website: http://www.bsd111.org/olc/49

Our books are flying off the shelves and in some cases our students become so entrenched in them that they forget to return them to the library for renewal. Please be reminded that our Bobcats can check out our books for one week. At that time, the student may renew the book for an additional week. If the stu- dent fails to return the book on time, he/she is given ONE ENTIRE WEEK beyond the due date to return the book. It is only after that one-week grace period that we must initiate the $.05 per day fine for overdue books. Please note that our books are very popular so please encourage your child to return the books on time. My Bobcats are continuing to learn new technology skills as they encounter the district’s latest online ap- plications in addition to the exciting new literacy skills they are developing in class. Ask them about the latest biographies I’ve shared with them! We absolutely love learning about these amazing people from our past and present! We wish you all a wonderful Spring Break filled with lots of rest, relaxation, and hopefully, great weather! Respectfully, Mrs. Kennedy Mrs. Cihocki

3 PE NEWS

The students have been working very hard improving their basketball skills during our unit. Students worked on dribbling, passing and shooting. After practicing the proper ways to perform the skills, we moved on to game play where students were able to display those skills in action. Students played in organized games of five on five using offensive and defensive strategies as well as working as a team. Our next unit will be Speedway where students will be using soccer, ultimate football and handball skills to play this quick-paced game! Speedway combines multiple sports and allows all skill levels to be uti- lized allowing for a lot of different strategies and movements.
