  • Hockey India Congratulates Biswaranjan Sarangi for His Promotion to Advancement Panel Technical Officer for Hockey
Hockey India congratulates Biswaranjan Sarangi for his Promotion to Advancement Panel Technical Officer for Hockey ~ Odisha's Sarangi was first promoted to FIH International Technical Official in August 2018 ~ New Delhi, 06 July 2020: Hockey India on Monday congratulated Biswaranjan Sarangi of Cuttack, Odisha on being promoted to Technical Officer - Advancement Panel by the FIH Officials Committee. The World Governing Body for Hockey, announced its decision on Friday. Having worked his way from the domestic circuit to the international level, Sarangi has been an exceptional Technical Official for the past few years, which has seen him being appointed for various tournaments around the globe. His first international appointment by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) was in August 2018 when he was promoted to FIH International Technical Official. Sarangi had then become the first Official from Odisha to have been promoted as an FIH International Technical Official, which was a result of him delivering excellent results as Judge at the Men’s Youth Olympic Games Qualifiers 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand, and as Technical Official at the 27th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2018 in Ipoh Malaysia. His exposure at the international level has also seen him being involved as an Assistant Technical Delegate at the 30th Southeast Asian Games 2019 in Philippines, and as Judge during the 2020 edition of the FIH Hockey Pro League. Excited at the news of his promotion to Technical Officer - Advancement Panel, Sarangi said, “I am delighted to have been granted the promotion to Technical Officer - Advancement Panel by the FIH Officials Committee. It is a huge honour for me to be representing our nation at such a huge level, and it comes down to the exposure I have been provided by Hockey India during my career as a Technical Official.

Page 1 PLAY TO THE WHISTLE Volume 13 FROM THE DESK OF THE CHAIRMAN Individual Highlights 1. Chairman’s Address 2. TNBMHL 3. Interview with Hideki 4. Appointment 5. National Veterans 6. Umpire Cup The year 2019 saw an early season taking off for the Malaysian Hockey League. 7. SUKMA 2018 The league consisted of some very high quality matches and for the Umpiring part of it, only the selected ones officiated. The teams were no short of talent, 8. National U14 roping in foreigners in their lineups. The Umpiring team too, for the first time in the history of the MHL had a foreign flavor, namely Hideki Kinoshita of Japan Kino had a great stint and easily adapted to the Malaysian hospitality and was easy to communicate with. The local Umpires did benefit very much from Kino just as Kino benefitted from the Malaysian’s. With this successful “test” stint, the Umpiring Committee is now looking into the prospects of engaging with a couple more exchange programs with top playing Nations in terms of Umpiring. As for our Umpires, the UC is pleased to note the progress that has taken place leading to the appointments of our umpires in the top Pro League of the FIH and the many FIH and AHF appointments our umpires have received in the various tournaments around the globe. For all these achievements, the UC would like to thank the parent body; the Malaysian Hockey Confederation who has played a pertinent role with is utmost support towards this achievement. The Umpiring fraternity in return pledges its support to the MHC and will uphold with integrity its promise to improve further the standards of Umpiring.

  • Hampstead and Westminster Hockey Club Newsletter April 2011 Keeping Vice Presidents and Friends in the Know
Hampstead and Westminster Hockey Club Newsletter April 2011 Keeping Vice Presidents and Friends in the know Welcome This is the seventh in our series of revamped Newsletters. This looks back on the 2010/11 season and on to the challenges of next autumn. We cover some initiatives on the Rules of the game taken up this spring in Holland at the European Hockey League championship in some detail too, lest some of them see their way to FIH acceptance. International News We are delighted to learn that Men‟s 1 captain, Dan Fox has been called up for the Great Britain squad for the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia. And even more that he played in the opening win, by 3-1, against Malaysia, coming off the bench. The tournament will be held from 5 May until 15 May in Ipoh, Perak, a two hour drive north of Kuala Lumpur at the Sultan Azlan Shah Stadium. For those eager to attend, apparently there is no fee at the gate! This year‟s participants are Malaysia, Korea, India, Australia, Pakistan. Great Britain and New Zealand. Great Britain‟s campaign gets underway against the hosts Malaysia at 13:05 BST on Thursday 5 May. In 2010, the final was washed out, so India and Korea were adjudged joint champions. Australia beat Malaysia 5-3 to come third, with Malaysia fourth, Pakistan fifth, China sixth and Egypt in seventh place. The GB Squad is: Richard Alexander (Surbiton) Nick Brothers (Reading) [GK] Jonty Clarke (Reading) Matt Daly (Surbiton) Adam Dixon (Beeston) James Fair (Cannock) Dan Fox (Hampstead & Westminster) Glenn Kirkham (East Grinstead) Iain Lewers (Loughborough Students) Iain Mackay (Reading) Richard Mantell (Reading) Simon Mantell (Reading) Rob Moore (Wimbledon) Richard Smith (Loughborough Students) Richard Springham (Reading) Niall Stott (East Grinstead) James Tindall (Surbiton) Alastair Wilson (Beeston) Memorial Match This is for the Summer diaries, please.
