LIVE DMA EUROPEAN NETWORK FOR LIVE MUSIC ASSOCIATIONS NETWORK’S LIFE

MEMBERS • In 2018, Live DMA counted 18 members in 14 countries currently represen- ting over 3000 music venues, clubs and festivals. • Live Fin, organisation running the common interests of different live music event organisers in including venues, festivals and concert produ- cers joined the network in 2018 • Live DMA met several music actors during the year to discuss local, regional and national cooperation among the music venues and clubs of their area: Lithuania, Vilnius, LOFTAS - Live DMA Associate Member | , , Hanzas Perons - Application to become a Live DMA Associate Member | MIL, Portugal - music venues meeting | , - meeting with dif- ferent actors from the music and nightlife scene in Budapest

APPLICATION • Live Style Europe (LSE) project started on 1st June 2017 for a 4 years period. • Annual application (January) and reporting (July) pro- cedure • Application for LSE year 2 in January 2018: total grant of 152 000 € approved

Facts & Figures of Music Venues in Europe in Januray 2018 (results and analysis of the data 2015 of 452 music venues of 10 Live DMA members in 8 different countries) • Live DMA and its members increasingly used the Survey results (media statement, website & social media, newsletters, projects) • 8 Survey presentations at festival conferences & members’ meetings • March 2018: Survey coordination meeting in Zu- rich (11 Live DMA members) • Improvements of data collection (higher response rates and better quality data) • 14 members collected data in 2018 SURVEY PRESENTATION Tuesday - 9:15 - 9:45 OPEN CLUB DAY

• First European edition on Saturday, the 3rd of February 2018 • Participation: 125 live music venues and clubs in 12 countries • Announcement of this new European movement at Eurosonic in January 2018 • June 2018: strategic meeting in Nantes with the aim to improve the communi- cation & coordination for the future editions • Elaboration of a new & more detailed Open Club Day toolkit • Coordination process for the second European edition started in October 2018 • Increased visibility of the Open Club Day also outside Europe (participation at the Nocturnal Cities event in Bogota) • Reflection on potential developments of the event and its coordination process (due to increased interest from actors outside the Live DMA network)

• Aim of STAMP: to be an advocate for the benefits of cooperation and networ- king in the music sector (mainly targeting Central, Eastern and South-East Eu- rope) • An ERASMUS+ project coordinated by the European Music Council & involving 9 project partners • September 2017: Live DMA co-organised a summer course on Networking & Cooperation in Latvia • Together with the European Music Council, Live DMA produced a Networking & Cooperation online course which was presented during the final event in Budapest in November 2018. ADVOCACY & PARTNERSHIPS CREATIVE EUROPE & MUSIC MOVES EUROPE • Participation in dedicated meetings (European Parliament, Brussels, 14th February; Creative Europe desk – Paris 14th June and 6th September) • Position papers: Boosting the EU culture budget – A call from Europe’s cultu- ral & creative sectors| Citizen-oriented Cohesion Policy with a prominent place for culture | The Future of Creative Europe EUROPEAN MUSIC COUNCIL • Contribution to the European Agenda for Music • Audrey Guerre was elected in the European Music Council board OTHER ADVOCACY ACTIVITIES • Publication of a joint statement on the revision of VISA codes • Support of the European Coyright Reform • Voices of Culture Structured Dialogue on the topic of ‘Social Inclusion’ ADVOCAY DISCUSSION Tuesday - 14:30 - 15:30 MMETA - MUSIC MOVES EUROPE TALENT AWARDS • Former EBBA (European Border Breaker Awards) • Live DMA is part of the advisory board • Strategic decision: being identified in a closed circle of European organisations, opening the possibility for Live DMA members to take part in a European artistic project, adding professional recommendations to a European project and assess its values MMETA PRESENTATION Wednesday - 11:00 - 11:15

FEASIBILITY STUDY - MUSIC OBSERVATORY • Study coordination: KEA and Panteia • Sept 2018 - Sept 2019 • Live DMA is part of the advisory board • Objectives of the study: Data availability, identify the sector’s data & research needs, identify existing funding schemes and funding gaps, propose a model of Observatory • Due to its expertise established with the Survey, Live DMA is recognized as important stakeholder representing live music venues & clubs and backbones this with facts about music venues & clubs as a data provider.
