1 STRUKTUR PENYAJIAN TARI NGAJAT LESUNGPADA GAWAI BATU DAYAK IBAN KABUPATEN BENGKAYANG Abstract STRUKTUR PENYAJIAN TARI NGAJAT LESUNGPADA GAWAI BATU DAYAK IBAN KABUPATEN BENGKAYANG Veronica Mega Violeta, Imma Fretisari, Ismunandar Program Studi Pendidikan Seni Pertunjukan FKIP Untan PontianakEmail:[email protected] Abstract This research is depended on the unique and the special of Ngajat Lesung folk dance that made the reseacher interested to done the research about The Structure to Present Tari Ngajat Folk Dance in Gawai Batu of Dayak Iban Peoples in Seluas rural of Seluas District and Bengkayang Regency. The purpose of this research is to describe the structure to present Ngajat Lesung folk dance.Method that used in this research is descriptive method with qualitative research type. The research approach in this research is Choreography Approach.The data results are interview, observation, and documentation. Techniques of data validation in this research are using obervation extension and triangulation sources. Techniques of data analysis in this research are data reduction, data presentation, and verification. Ngajat Lesung Dance has structures which consist of initial, middle, and end movements. Other elements contained in the structure include, Floor design, Top design, Dance Dynamics, group composition, the theme, accompaniment, make up and clothing, dance property, place of performance, The result of this research is expected to be implemented in the teaching of art and culture subject to the VIII grade of the first semester one. PENDAHULUAN merupakan warisan budaya masa lampau Tari Ngajat Lesung merupakan yang diwariskan secara turun temurun oleh kebudayaan yang tumbuh dan masyarakat Dayak Iban pada jaman dulunya berkembang di Desa Seluas.Seluas hingga saat ini.hingga saat ini Tari Ngajat merupakan sebuah kecamatan yang Lesung masih bisa disaksikan dalam acara tidak jauh dengan wilayah perbatasan Gawai Batu Dayak Iban Desa Seluas yang Indonesia-Malaysia dan terletak di dilestarikan oleh sanggar Rentak Ruai. Kabupaten Bengkayang.Dayak Iban Keberadaan Tari Ngajat Lesung yang merupakan salah satu rumpun suku berkembang di Desa Seluas ini, memiliki Dayak yang terdapat di Kalimantan peran dalam kehidupan masyarakat yaitu Barat, Sarawak Brunei dan Tawau dapat menjadi hiburan serta memberikan Sabah.Tari Ngajat Lesung ini ilmu yang positif dalam hal kesenian merupakan tarian asli dari Suku Dayak diantaranya, masyarakat dapat mengetahui Iban rumpun Semanggang Sarawak kesenian Dayak Iban yang berkembang di Malaysia yang tumbuh dan berkembang Desa Seluas Kecamatan Seluas, salah satu di Desa Seluas Kecamatan Seluas Etnik Dayak yang terdapat di Kabupaten Kabupaten Bengkayang. Email: [email protected] Abstract This paper aims to examine the inventory of the cultural and musical heritage of the Iban people in Sarawak and emphasized the types of instruments played. The study synthesized that the Iban traditional music is percussion-oriented, consisting of various types of percussion ensembles such as gongs, drums, stringed instruments as well as wind instruments. There are 18 instruments discovered through field work, structured interviews, survey, questionnaires consisting of free-response questions, observation with check-list and document analysis. Findings show that these cultural musical instruments are three gongs (engkerumung, bebendai and setawak), five drums (gendang, ketebung, rebana, tar and tengkuang), seven stringed instruments (balulin, belikan, engkeratung, engkerebab, serunai, ruding and sape) and three wind instruments (engkerurai, enserunai and ensuling). Most sadly it has been discovered that today, unfortunately very few younger people know how to play belikan, engkeratung, engkerebab, serunai, ruding and engkerurai and the art of playing these instrument is rapidly dying out. Significantly, the Ibans should cultivate the skills and inclinations of playing these stringed and wind instruments otherwise this traditional and cultural musical art will be swallowed by the era modernization in the music industry. As of today, 15 languages are in danger while two languages are extinct. One of the methods to save languages is by documenting languages, but it is a tedious task when perform manually. Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system can be a tool to help speed up the process of documenting speech from the native speakers. However, building ASR systems for a target language requires a large amount of training data as current state-of-the-art techniques are based on empirical approach.

    Critical Thinking: Its Representation in Indonesian ELT Textbooks and Education Hamzah Puadi Ilyas PhD University of York Education February 2015 Abstract My original contribution to knowledge consists in generating a new critical thinking framework that can be used to investigate the elements of critical thinking in textbooks. The framework, however, can also be used as a guideline for teachers who are concerned with the development of learners’ critical thinking skills. Critical thinking has been included in an Indonesian government document as an educational objective; however, it is currently neglected and not seriously disseminated in schools. This study attempts to investigate to what extent critical thinking has been manifested in textbooks in Indonesia and to what extent Indonesian senior secondary school students are ready for the teaching of critical thinking skills. To this end, the study investigates the elements of critical thinking contained in Indonesian ELT textbooks and students’ responses to modified materials containing elements of critical thinking. Three methods are adopted: content analysis, qualitative analysis of students’ written responses, and interviews. Predetermined analytic categories are used to analyse nine Indonesian ELT textbooks used by senior secondary schools. Artikel ini bertujuan membuat sorotan literatur tentang asal usul tarian-tarian tradisional di luar dan di Sabah. Kajian perpustakaan dan laman sesawang telah dilakukan untuk mengumpul data daripada buku, makalah jurnal, makalah ensiklopedia dan penerbitan lain yang ada hubung kait dengan fokus sorotan literatur ini. Hasil sorotan literatur yang dilakukan mendapati asal usul tarian tradisional di luar Sabah hanya terhad kepada dua jenis asal usul sahaja, iaitu ritual dan pergerakan binatang. Kebanyakan tarian ritual di luar Sabah didapati bertujuan untuk permintaan hujan, kesuburan tanaman, penyembuhan penyakit dan upacara kematian. Selain asal usul tarian tradisional yang berkait dengan ritual, terdapat juga tarian tradisional yang berasal daripada pergerakan binatang seperti pergerakan kera, kijang dan unggas. Bagi asal usul tarian-tarian tradisional di Sabah pula, tarian ritual yang ditemui dalam sorotan literatur ini didapati bertujuan untuk penyembuhan penyakit, pemujaan semangat padi dan semangat mengayau serta menolak bala. Berkaitan pergerakan binatang, terdapat tarian tradisional di Sabah yang diilhami daripada pergerakan burung, khususnya burung layang-layang dan burung helang. Tiada pergerakan binatang lain yang ditemui. Tambahan pula, terdapat asal usul tarian tradisional di Sabah yang berasal daripada permainan tradisional orang tempatan. Asal usul sedemikian tidak ditemui dalam asal usul tarian tradisional di luar Sabah ketika sorotan literatur ini dilakukan.

    Borneo again: media, social life and nation-building among the Iban of Malaysian Borneo Ph.D. Social Anthropology University College London John R. Postill (LONDON Abstract This study examines the social and political significance of media among the Iban of Sarawak, in Malaysian Borneo. It is intended to contribute both to the ethnographic literature on the lban and to a neglected field of inquiry of key theoretical and practical importance: the anthropological study of media. The thesis is divided into seven chapters. The first chapter introduces the problem by critically reviewing the relevant literature from social anthropology and media studies. The second chapter deals with the production side of modern media from an historical perspective. The production of a modern lban identity through radio and print media in the 1 960s was superseded in the 1970s by a more vigorous rival project supported through television and textbooks: the creation of a Malaysian national culture. The third chapter explores the 'social life and afterlife' of television sets in the Saribas region as they enter into the gift and exchange systems that bind the living and the dead, including burial rites at which television sets are destroyed. This approach reveals growing wealth disparities in rural Sarawak as well as culture-specific ways in which media artefacts are appropriated and disposed of. Chapter Four analyses the critical role of radio, television, public-address systems and other media in the organisation of social time and space in Saribas longhouse communities. I argue that these media help local people to routinely naturalize clock and calendar time both in their daily and festive lives.
