As stated, there was a possibility that these would be subject to change due to government guidance. For all schools, the arrangements have indeed changed, and these are highlighted below. The report identifies barriers to better RE and suggests ways in which the subject might be improved. Welcome to Healing School, a Science Academy December 2019 As the Autumn term draws to a close, Hotline it is astounding to see how much Team Healing has to celebrate! I am always so proud of the opportunities we offer to pupils, and also how much the pupils and staff team achieve together in a relatively short amount of time! We were delighted to once again celebrate the exceptional GCSE results of our former Year 11 pupils; results which confirmed our position of the highest performing secondary school in the area in relation to the DfE’s core measures (Attainment 8, Basics Standard, Basics Strong, EBACC APS). The wider and holistic achievements of former Year 11 pupils were also phenomenal, with a plethora of talent to celebrate in Drama, Music and Sport. U V Review Decision Update January 2015 In 2010, Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) contacted the Environment Agency (EA) reporting longer and more frequent use of bathing waters outside of the bathing water season (May to September), on the Lincolnshire coast. Seasonal ultraviolet (UV) disinfection treatment is currently in place at Newton Marsh and Mablethorpe sewage treatment works (STWs); protecting bathing water quality during the bathing water season. A review has been carried out determining whether seasonal UV treatment is still appropriate at these STWs. In August 2012, the EA issued an interim document: “Interim Decision Report on Review of Ultraviolet Disinfection at Newton Marsh and Mablethorpe Sewage Treatment Works”; which concluded that no increase in UV is currently required at Mablethorpe STW due to the good out of season water quality results. Investigations continued at Newton Marsh STW with the third year of water user surveys concluding at the end of April 2014. The overall user survey results and conclusions of the UV review are outlined below. Overall Water User Survey Results User surveys were carried out over three continuous out of bathing seasons at Cleethorpes and Humberston Fitties bathing waters, close to Newton Marsh STW. On average, 2 to 3 surveys were undertaken per week during the out of bathing water months, with an intensive week of additional surveys during October half term 2013. User surveys were not carried out in December 2013 and January 2014, due to extremely low results in these months in previous years. The number of user surveys can be seen in Table 1, together with the observed user numbers.

While the picture is diverse, with some towns buoyant and others struggling, there is a specific set of challenges that coastal communities tend to face. As a result, children in large swathes of our coast are underachieving. The Future Leaders Trust, whose mission is to raise the achievement of all children, regardless of background, has expanded from its roots in inner-city schools to become a national programme. The Talented Leaders programme in particular works with schools in coastal and rural areas. We are not the only ones addressing these challenges. Recent research by Dr Tanya Ovenden-Hope and Dr Rowena Passy set out to identify the measures taken by headteachers to move their coastal schools towards an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted categorisation. Its findings tally with our headteachers’ experience of how effective leadership makes a clear and positive impact.
