It needs to provide enough protection from all sides for ALL equipment. The performance will be ended if any equipment is exposed to rain and is getting wet. - Drums and Keyboards on riser if possible. Input List: Please see attached list. Drum Sound: - The TrashKats are optional, depending on stage size. - Drummer is using a sample pad. One DI is needed (Mono) Keyboard Sound - Lars' Keyboards have 1 Mono out that's already XLR. - Synth sounds are dry w/o Reverb. Please apply from FoH as needed. - Sampler (Stereo) needs DI boxes. - Bob's Keyboard is mono and needs one DI. Monitor Sound: - Lars uses (wired) in ear. Provide a monitor feed (stereo, if possible) - Everybody else will need monitor wedges. Show: - Show usually starts with sampled intro (about 90 seconds) (Channels #17/#18. No Effects please).     Experiencing the Glory Days of Vinyl Editor’s note: Record Store/Vinyl Appreciation Day is April 22, 2017. There was a point in time when listening to your favorite album was an actual experience rather than just an accompaniment for your car ride or wallpaper behind a study session in your college dorm. This unique type of experience required you to sit down by a record player, maybe put on some headphones for maximum musical teleportation, and give your undivided attention as you entered an imagined world of musical exploration. A key component of this (possibly literal) “trip” was something now considered an ancient artifact of years past: liner notes. Whether you were following along word for word with the lyrics to each song or browsing acknowledgments during the solos, there was often much more to discover than just the music flowing through your speaker cables. In fact, much of my arguably useless but extensive knowledge of music trivia is attributed to studying the producers, engineers, musicians and songwriters on each – I started to say “track,” but that’s a CD thing with place in this article – “cut,” I believe is the correct word. Before social media became a magnifying glass into every celebrity’s life, there was this added element of mystery. The album artwork and inside sleeve were sometimes the only way we could get a glimpse into the studio sessions, who worked on the album, and in some instances what the band actually looked like! Sure there was the occasional magazine poster/article from popular music magazines such as Creem, Rolling Stone, Billboard and Circus, but you also had to go to a physical store and purchase them.

    PRESS RELEASE – September 17, 2018 Susan Carrier (951) 551-5363 [email protected] TRIBUTE TO THE CARS TO APPEAR AT HHT On Saturday October 6th, the Historic Hemet Theatre will host a tribute to The Cars, a band that pioneered synthesizer pop music in the late 70's and early 80's. Performing the tribute will be Heartbeat City, a band that has recreated the look and sound of the Cars, dressing in the 80's style of the band and perfecting a sound that is amazingly close to the real thing! Although less well known than other classic bands, The Cars were quite successful in their day, including being named "Best New Artist" by Rolling Stone in 1978 and "Video of the Year" for "You Might Think" at the very first MTV Video Music Awards in 1984. Their debut album, The Cars, sold six million copies and appeared on the Billboard 200 album chart for 139 weeks. Robert Palmer, music critic for Rolling Stone, described the Cars' musical style by saying: "they have taken some important but disparate contemporary trends—punk minimalism, the labyrinthine synthesizer and guitar textures of art rock, the '50s rockabilly revival and the melodious terseness of power pop—and mixed them into a personal and appealing blend." The Cars most memorable hits include "My Best Friend's Girl," "Just What I Needed," "Who's Gonna Drive You Home Tonight?," and "Good Times Roll." Coast Guard Veteran Interviewer: Scott Price, Deputy Historian Date of Interview: 18 June 2003 Place: U. S. Coast Guard Headquarters, Washington, D.C. Marvin Perrett joined the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and served aboard the Coast Guard-manned attack transport USS Bayfield (APA-33) as a coxswain of one of the Bayfield's landing craft. He was a veteran of the invasions of Normandy, Southern France, Iwo Jima and Okinawa and he even survived the "Exercise Tiger" debacle prior to the Normandy invasion. Although each of these events has received extensive coverage, his story, and the story of the thousands of young men who manned the boats that landed troops on enemy beaches, is little- known. It seems that the men who transported the troops to the beach were often been overlooked by historians, writers, and film producers. Yet, as Mr. Perret points out, without them, how would any invasion have happened? 1 Mr. Perrett's oral history is comprehensive. He describes his decision to join the Coast Guard and he then delves into the extensive training he received and how he was picked to be the sailor in charge of a landing craft. He also describes, in detail, this craft he sailed through enemy fire during the invasions he took part in. The boat he commanded was the ubiquitous LCVP, or "Landing Craft, Vehicle / Personnel. It was made primarily of wood by the famous company Higgins Industries in New Orleans.
