MEET THE STAFF! MOLLY ANDREWS-HINDERS is a performance artist, creator, songwriter, and educator, and recently joined the Playhouse Square staff as a Teaching Artist. Previously, she served as Artistic Associate at Cleveland Public Theatre. Highlights from her time there include line producing CPT’s new play development series, co- directing STEP, the teen summer job training program, and serving as director of ENDependence*, an original show that explored effects of – and possible solutions to – the opioid epidemic (*partnership with MetroHealth and CPT). As an educator, Molly has previously served with The Musical Theatre Project, CPT, Maelstrom Collaborative Arts, and Near West Theatre. A proud graduate of Cleveland State University’s Theatre Program (‘08), Katelyn joins Playhouse Square after serving as the Director of Education and Outreach, and then Artistic Director, for Talespinner Children’s Theatre (TCT) in Gordon Square. For TCT, Katelyn was integral in creating the structure of the theater’s Education Department as well as the Exceptional Inclusion Program, which was created to serve the Disability Community in North East Ohio and beyond. Prior to TCT, Katelyn served as an Actor Teacher for Great Lakes Theatre. As an actor she has been seen on such stages across Cleveland as Cleveland Public Theatre, Karamu House, Ensemble Theatre, Maelstrom (Theater Ninjas), and Talespinner. .

Fueled by pre-war immigration from Europe and then the Great Migration north by African-Americans, Cleveland in 1910 was the sixth largest city in the United States. The city’s cultural life was also growing with the opening of the Cleveland Museum of Art in 1916 and the formation of the Cleveland Orchestra in 1918.

Obertacz will begin his tenure on October 11, 2017 as the theatre commences its 40th season. He will lead Near West Theatre in partnership with Bob Navis, Jr., who will continue in his role as Artistic Director. Obertacz and Navis will carry forward the theatre’s mission to offer theatre arts experiences that are inclusive and transformational for performers and audiences alike. “I look forward to carrying forward Near West Theatre founder Stephanie Morrison Hrbek’s outstanding leadership. Founded Beck Center’s Creative Arts Therapies program in 1994. He is co-chair of the Ohio Music Therapy Task Force and has been appointed to serve on the Ohio Arts Council’s Artists with Disabilities Access Program. He is Past President of the Cleveland Arts Education Consortium as well as the Great Lakes Region of the American Music Therapy Association (GLRAMTA) and the Association of Ohio Music Therapists (AOMT). He received the GLR-AMTA 2007 Service Award, the AOMT Past President’s Award in 2012 and has been inducted into the Ohio State Fair Hall of Fame. He has been recognized by the City of Lakewood for bringing the healing power of music to the community. He is also Director of Operations for the All-Ohio State Fair Band and Youth Choir, two organizations featuring the talents of 400 talented high school instrumentalists and vocalists which are comprised of students from throughout the state. The plan was designed to explore how to best steward this significant investment while looking forward toward the next phase of physical, economic and artistic growth of the District.
