Crime, Media, Culture Benjamin’sFor “Flâneur” Peer and Serial Review Murder- an Ultra-Realist Literary Case Study of Levi Bellfield Journal: Crime, Media, Culture Manuscript ID CMC-18-0053.R1 Manuscript Type: Journal Article Levi Bellfield, Ultra-Realism, Flâneur, Serial Murder, Capitalism, Literary, Keywords: Flâneuse This paper seeks to develop criminological theory with the application of a literary device known as the “flâneur”- an individual described as a "stroller" – to serial murderer Levi Bellfield. With this application of the “flâneur” to the phenomenon of serial murder, this paper provides a fresh theoretical “lens”, and specifically sheds light on how particular serial murderers operate and evade detection in modern society. The importance of modernity to the phenomenon of serial murder is also considered Abstract: utilising Ultra-Realist theory, resulting in both a micro and macro examination into how the modern urban landscape has subsequently created an environment in which both the serial killer operates and comes to fruition. REHEARSALS BEGIN FOR NEW WEST END CAST OF H A R R Y P O T T E R A N D T H E C U R S E D C H I L D PARTS ONE AND TWO WWW.HARRYPOTTERTHEPLAY.COM Rehearsals began this week for the new West End cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child who will start their performances at the Palace Theatre in London’s West End on 24 May 2017 following the final performance from the current cast on 21 May 2017. Jamie Glover will play Harry Potter with Emma Lowndes as his wife Ginny Potter and Theo Ancient as their son Albus Potter. Thomas Aldridge will play Ron Weasley with Rakie Ayola as Hermione Granger and Helen Aluko as their daughter Rose Granger-Weasley. Playing Draco Malfoy will be James Howard with Samuel Blenkin as his son Scorpius Malfoy. They are joined by new cast members David Annen, Ruthxjiah Bellenea, Danny Dalton, Leah Haile, Rupert Henderson, Elizabeth Hill, April Hughes, James McGregor, Sarah Miele, Jordan Paris, James Phoon, Henry Rundle, Ged Simmons, Mark Theodore, Gideon Turner and Ed White. Original cast members Nicola Alexis, Rosemary Annabella, Phoebe Austen, Annabel Baldwin, Jabez Cheeseman, Morag Cross, Esme Grace, Lowri James, Martin Johnston, Alfred Jones, Barry McCarthy, Sandy McDade, Tom Mackley, Harrison Noble, Ben Roberts, Nuno Silva, Hope Sizer and Joshua Wyatt complete the 42-strong company playing a variety of characters, including seven children who will alternate two roles. WHO’D PUT ON A PLAY DURING A PANDEMIC? There are so many unknowns. Will anyone actually want to come? We’ve all been at home for six months and still have a season of Selling Sunset to watch. How can you possibly re- spond to what has happened in 2020? Black Lives Matter, Covid, a vacuum of leadership at the highest political levels, a world where human interaction is increasingly digital. Despite all the risks, it feels more necessary than ever to tell stories that will entertain and bring joy into the world. We need to create and can only do that by leaning into the changes. There are new rules. Let’s use them to fuel the work. Gemma Lawrence has written something spectacular and it’s a total thrill that she is appearing in her play alongside the ridicu- lously talented Remmie Milner. After ONLY one and half weeks of rehearsal and tech, here we are! But the journey of Sunnymead Court is not a typical one. The project started out in May, when Mitchell Reeve at The Actors Centre asked Defibrillator to create a socially distanced theatre experiment. -

1 Top Pick Friday 9 March 8.30pm Harrow Dr. Daniel Harrow is a brilliant, maverick Forensic Pathologist at the Queensland Institute of Forensic Medicine (QIFM). But he’s quitting – the job is getting too much for him and he desperately wants to reconnect with his estranged daughter Fern. He makes Fern a bold promise to leave with her on his yacht Bettie and sail all the way to Bora Bora. However before they weigh anchor, Harrow must deal with one more case. Bruce Reimers is a grieving father whose daughter Olivia’s death was ruled a suicide by Harrow’s colleague, the thorough but unfeeling Fairley. Despite Olivia’s history of mental illness and evidence that Olivia overdosed on medication, Bruce is convinced the overdose was forced. Harrow sets about re-examining Olivia’s corpse and gathering information. While quizzing Detective Sergeant Bryan Nichols, who led the initial investigation, he meets new Scenes of Crime Officer Soroya Dass, a witty, beautiful woman with whom he feels an immediate spark. Harrow continues his off-book investigation and with Simon’s help, he examines Olivia’s body one last time where they find new evidence. But just when Harrow thinks all is well and he can sail to Bora Bora with Fern, a new case lands on his desk. Bones have been discovered in a cocoon of concrete pulled from the Brisbane river. Who do the bones belong to? And who put them there?
