Regan ’12 “WORK HARD, BE A LEADER, BE HUMBLE, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY HAVE FUN.” These simple words are the guidelines of how I try to live my life each day. My grandfather, the legendary football coach, athletic director, and guidance counselor, Jim Cotter ’55 spoke these words often to me and my family. When asked to write a reflection on the appointment of my mother and Jim Cotter’s daughter, Grace Cotter Regan, this simple mantra came to mind on how we both approach life. Work Hard. I grew up on Morrissey Boulevard, much like my mom and I don’t think I can remember a time when Boston College High School wasn’t a part of my life. In August, the Peretti Scholars conversational Spanish program launched with 16 students. The Scholars were paired with Spanish speaking mentors in the community, attended supplemental Spanish classes to enhance their conversation skills, and have experi- enced cultural field trips in the Greater Boston area – excelente!     2016-2017 Gerstner Scholars Program Overview Program Summary The Gerstner Scholars Program at the Catholic Schools Foundation (CSF) will provide up to 5 scholarships of $6,500 each, or the full cost of tuition (whichever is less), to high performing, financially needy 8th graders who currently attend Catholic elementary schools and are accepted to the Class of 2021 at select schools in the Archdiocese of Boston (RCAB). Inspiring remarkable girls since 1954. Fontbonne is a leader in private school education and a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Saint Joseph Boston. In the winter of 2019, Fontbonne removed the category “academy” from our name and adopted “early college”. We are designing and sustaining a student-centered learning environment that is collegiate in curriculum, pedagogy, culture, and student life experience. Our Early College emphasis will enable us to programmatically maximize our 11th and 12th grader’s ability to attain transferable college credit while cultivating those distinct characteristics, attributes, and skills she would have otherwise acquired during her freshman or sophomore year in college. Fontbonne commits to fostering Gospel values and educational excellence. This inclusive community embraces diversity in many forms. Through the tradition of Respect, Responsibility, Reconciliation, and Reverence, Fontbonne promotes spiritual growth, scholarship, and leadership of young women.     From the Head of School For 65 years, Fontbonne has been educating and inspiring remarkable girls who are equipped to take on the challenges they face as adults. Our deeply centered faith-based education has provided our alumnae with a moral compass and a spiritual foundation that is their guide throughout their lives. As we move through the 21st century at Fontbonne, it is valuable to advance the education of women to not only include college readiness but to increase college affordability and success. Our history is our foundation and our advancement as an Early College is our future. As a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, our mission is centered on relationships and responding to the needs in our community. In January 2019, Fontbonne became the Early College of Boston. This category defines the education we provide a girl to become a remarkable Fontbonne women. As we took a deep look into our education, we recognized that throughout the past decade, we have been innovative in our classrooms, in our co-curricular activities and in the student experience we offer our girls. Our student-centered, project-based and interdisciplinary learning initiatives define the education of a Fontbonne girl and describe an Early College curriculum and classroom. A Fontbonne education provides a young girl with the Early College experiences in school culture and academics which allows her to create her own future. We are not just preparing a student for college, we are offering her college courses here at Fontbonne while attending high school. Our students are supported through our faculty and staff, finding success in our collegiate classrooms, which allows them to have the confidence to make the transition to college campus life that much easier.
