JANUARY MIXED SALE Wednesday, January 16, 2019 - 12:00 Noon Fairplex - Pomona, CA © Mesaros Calif. Incentive Program_Cat 18_Page 1 CALIFORNIA’S INCENTIVE PROGRAM IT PAYS TO BREED AND OWN A CALIFORNIA-BRED In 2017, the breeders and owners of California-bred Thoroughbreds and the owners of California-based stallions received over $12M in premiums through the California Incentive Program. In addition, special racing opportunities afforded California-breds in 2017, provided more than $20M in purses for races restricted to California-breds. As a result of legislation recently amended in 2009, total monies available for incentive awards are distributed as follows: 10% to the California-bred race fund; 15% to the Maiden Bonus program: 20% bonus on the winner’s share to the owner of a California-bred Thoroughbred horse conceived by a registered eligible Thoroughbred stallion that finishes first in an open qualifying race, and a 10% bonus on the winner’s share to the owner of a California-bred Thoroughbred horse that finishes first in an open qualifying race that was not conceived by a registered eligible Thoroughbred stallion. The tracks are adding an additional 10% for Cal-bred winners of allowance races making the bonus 30%. A qualifying race is all non-claiming races excluding stakes with a purse of at least $15,000, as are open non maiden claiming races with a claiming price of $40,000 or greater in Southern California and $20,000 or greater in Northern California. After these deductions, 75% of the remainder to be paid as breeder awards, and 25% of the fund to be paid as stallion awards.

  • Cheap Eats, Grown Folks Karaoke, and More Secrets of Fort Greene
December 20, 2017 Cheap eats, grown folks karaoke, and more secrets of Fort Greene Fort Greene Park is 30 acres on a hill that, at the top, has dramatic views of the city. cisc1970/Flickr Fort Greene is currently getting its close-up: The Brooklyn neighborhood is the setting for Spike Lee's Netflix show, She's Gotta Have It, a reboot of his 1986 film. The director famously grew up in the area, and one of the series' themes is how much things have changed. There's no question that Fort Greene is heavily gentrified. The New York Times was documentingthe neighborhood's "revitalization" as early as 1985. It's not difficult to figure out what draws moneyed newcomers: There are historic brownstone-lined blocks, a 30-acre park that's about to get $5 million in upgrades, abundant transit options (Atlantic Terminal is close by, and you'll find the C at Lafayette Avenue, the G at Fulton Street, the 2,3, 4 and 5 at Nevins Street, and the B and Q at Dekalb Avenue), arts venues, and an array of bars and restaurants. The past is still present in Fort Greene in many ways. In the heart of Fort Greene Park is a monument commemorating the thousands of men and women who died aboard British prison ships during the American revolution. A park bench is dedicated to the author Richard Wright, who penned his novel Native Son in the park many decades later. Not far from the park is the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts, which celebrates the contributions of people of African descent, and has hosted exhibitions highlighting Brooklyn artists.

My entire family deserves recognition, for giving encouragement, assistance, and comic relief when I needed it most. I am in great debt to Tristan, who provided comfort, strength, physics references, and a bottomless coffee mug. I would be remiss to exclude my colleagues in the musicology program here at The Florida State University. The environment we have created is incomparable. Poklemba, Gaming Commissioner Todd R. Snyder, Gaming Commissioner William B. Wilmot, DVM January 31, 2014 To: The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of New York Members of the New York State Legislature On behalf of the Board of Directors of the New York Thoroughbred Breeding and Development Fund, I am pleased to present this annual report for 2013. This report includes information on revenue, award payments, research funding, promotional spending and operational improvements made during the past year. The performances of registered New York-breds on racetracks and in sales pavilions, as well as the expansion of farms during the past year, demonstrate that the Fund is accomplishing its mission to “support by monetary incentives the responsible breeding of quality Thoroughbred racehorses in keeping with the founding legislation to preserve New York’s irreplaceable farm land.” The award programs administered by the Fund are demonstrably encouraging people to breed, buy and race our home-grown product. The Fund is a pass-through organization that collects revenue from the racing industry and sends a minimum of 91% of that revenue back to stakeholders in the form of agricultural awards, purse enrichment for NY-breds and support for equine research.
