The Phallomycetidae common name is derived from its association with the South American originating Jacaranda mimosifolia phalloid fungi trees in the city. The aim of this study was to consider the unusual occurrence of the fungus in South South Africa Africa, to place it on the available Phallales phylogeny and to test whether it merits generic status. Fresh stinkhorns basidiomes were collected during the summer of 2015 and sequenced. Phylogenetic analyses were based on sequence data for the nuc-LSU-rDNA (LSU) and ATPase subunit 6 (ATP6) regions. The results showed that I. rosea and I. galericulata are phylogenetically related. -

Abstract — Specimens of Phallus hadriani and P. roseus collected in Pakistan are described here. Photographs and molecular data are provided for both species. Key words — Basidiomycota, Phallales, taxonomy. Introduction The genus Phallus Junius ex L. (Phallaceae Corda, Phallales E. Fisch.) is typified by P. impudicus L. Kreisel (1996) has recognized 31 different species within Phallus sensu lato (incorporating Aporophallus, Dictyophora, Echinophallus, Endophallus, Itajahya, and several other genera). Calonge (2005) proposed a provisional key for 25 species, after which several new species have been described (e.g., Calonge et al. 2005, 2008; Li et al. 2005; Moreno et al. 2009). Phallus has a cosmopolitan distribution (Kreisel 1996); four species previously recorded from Pakistan include P. celebicus Henn., P. impudicus, P. rubicundus (Bosc) Fr. (Ahmad 1952), and P. calongei G. Moreno & Khalid (Moreno et al. 2009). Descriptions for two additional species based on recent collections from Pakistan are provided below. Materials & methods The collections preserved in LAH herbarium were examined and divided, with separate vouchers being deposited in AH herbarium. Specimens were mounted in Hoyer’s medium and studied with a Nikon microscope. -

In connection with investigations (1944 50) in the flora and vege tation of sand-fields, sand-hills and sand-dunes in the southern parts of Sweden, I have succeeded in finding a number of larger fungi, previously considered very rare in Sweden. Some of them are new to Sweden. Several of them belong to the biological group of fungi often classified as step p e fung i. These have their centre in Ihe clima tically conditioned steppe regions and many of them are only found here, e.g.. Battttrea Stevenii, and several Secottinn-speeies. Others occur also within the extra-zonal steppe regions, e.g., within certain parts of central and north-western Europe. Throughout their entire area of distribution these species grow — together with a great quantity of other species not indigenous to Sweden — on more or less sandy, dry habitats devoid of any dominating shrub or tree layer. -

I ntroduction Although the family Phallaceae belongs to the most striking représentants of larger fungi on all continents, few attempts have been made to establish a synopsis of the family or at least of its most conspicuous genus, Phallus sensu lato (Ventenat 1798, Fischer 1888 - 1905, Lloyd 1909, Fischer 1933). But there is a lot of information scattered in floras and papers from all over the world which justifies a new approach to summarize the present knowledge of this genus. -

An Inventory of Fungal Diversity in Ohio Research Thesis Presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for graduation with research distinction in the undergraduate colleges of The Ohio State University by Django Grootmyers The Ohio State University April 2021 1 ABSTRACT Fungi are a large and diverse group of eukaryotic organisms that play important roles in nutrient cycling in ecosystems worldwide. Fungi are poorly documented compared to plants in Ohio despite 197 years of collecting activity, and an attempt to compile all the species of fungi known from Ohio has not been completed since 1894. This paper compiles the species of fungi currently known from Ohio based on vouchered fungal collections available in digitized form at the Mycology Collections Portal (MyCoPortal) and other online collections databases and new collections by the author. All groups of fungi are treated, including lichens and microfungi. 69,795 total records of Ohio fungi were processed, resulting in a list of 4,865 total species-level taxa. 250 of these taxa are newly reported from Ohio in this work. 229 of the taxa known from Ohio are species that were originally described from Ohio. A number of potentially novel fungal species were discovered over the course of this study and will be described in future publications. The insights gained from this work will be useful in facilitating future research on Ohio fungi, developing more comprehensive and modern guides to Ohio fungi, and beginning to investigate the possibility of fungal conservation in Ohio.
