SIMON SET FOR DEBUT; IN-FORM TOMIC MEETS 2009 CHAMPION BAGHDATIS

 DAY 3 PREVIEW: No. 3 seed makes his If debut on Wednesday when second-round singles play gets underway in the Swedish capital. The World No. 15 has surpassed 40 wins in a season for the fourth time in his career. Should he defeat on Wednesday, he will improve to 42-22 in 2015. Like Simon, No. 4 seed is enjoying an exceptional year. He enters Stockholm with a career-best 39 victories on the season and a career-high ranking of No. 18. Tomic plays for his 40th win of 2015 against 2009 Stockholm champion . Both Simon and Tomic are attempting to end the season among the 10 winningest players on tour (see chart below). Five first-round doubles matches are also on tap Wednesday, including No. 4 seeds and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi against 2010 finalists Johan Brunström and , who is retiring at the end of the If Stockholm Open. On Tuesday, Nieminen was anything but lucky against Nicolas Almagro, falling in the final singles match of his career.  EMIRATES ATP RACE TO UPDATE: With three weeks remaining in the Emirates ATP Race to London, two spots are still up for grabs at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals Nov. 15-22. The Top 8 players in the race on Nov. 9 will compete at the year-end championships. Six players have qualified so far: Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Roger Federer, Stan Wawrinka, Rafael Nadal and Tomas Berdych. As of Wednesday, 990 race points separate No. 8 David Ferrer from No. 9 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. In Stockholm, No. 10 could gain as many as 250 race points by winning the title.
