The World No. 15 has surpassed 40 wins in a season for the fourth time in his career. Should he defeat Leonardo Mayer on Wednesday, he will improve to 42-22 in 2015. Like Simon, No. 4 seed Bernard Tomic is enjoying an exceptional year. He enters Stockholm with a career-best 39 victories on the season and a career-high ranking of No. 18. Tomic plays for his 40th win of 2015 against 2009 Stockholm champion Marcos Baghdatis. Both Simon and Tomic are attempting to end the season among the 10 winningest players on tour (see chart below). Five first-round doubles matches are also on tap Wednesday, including No. 4 seeds Jonathan Marray and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi against 2010 finalists Johan Brunström and Jarkko Nieminen, who is retiring at the end of the If Stockholm Open. On Tuesday, Nieminen was anything but lucky against lucky loser Nicolas Almagro, falling in the final singles match of his career. Almagro, who replaced fellow Spaniard Daniel Muñoz-de la Nava in the draw, earned his fifth consecutive win over Nieminen (5-1 FedEx Head 2 Head overall). 2015 ATP WORLD TOUR WINS LEADERS Rank Player W-L Titles 1 Novak Djokovic 73-5 9 2 Andy Murray 64-11 4 3 Roger Federer 53-9 5 T4 Kei Nishikori 52-13 3 T4 Rafael Nadal 52-17 3 6 Tomas Berdych 51-18 1 7 Stan Wawrinka 50-14 4 8 David Ferrer 48-12 4 T9 Kevin Anderson 42-21 1 T9 John Isner 42-22 1 11 Gilles Simon 41-22 1 12 Bernard Tomic39-24 1 Bold denotes player competing on tour this week INFOSYS ATP SCORES & STATS: No. 3 seed Gilles Simon, who makes his Stockholm debut on Wednesday, ranks fifth among all players on the ATP World Tour in return games won this season.
