Half-Day and Full-Day Camps for Youth Age 4 and up

www.edenpr.org/EPIC EAGLE ZONE School Age Care Summer Program Eagle Zone provides a fun, safe and enriching environment for youth throughout summer. The program focuses on creating an environment that is respectful, inclusive and nurturing for youth in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Children enrolled in Eagle Zone have the freedom to explore their interests, be physically active and socialize with their peers.

On a daily basis, Eagle Zone offers coordinated activities in the areas of arts and crafts, STEM experiments, service projects, fitness activities and much more. The program also takes field trips on a weekly basis and incorporates special events throughout the course of the summer.

EAGLE ZONE: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW Eagle Zone’s full-day summer program begins at 6:15 AM and ends at 6:00 PM. There are two additional registration options available to families who are also attending EPIC. More information regarding Eagle Zone registration options for families who are also enrolled in EPIC can be found on page 9 of this catalog. When does Eagle Zone summer registration open? Summer programming opens online at 8:00 AM on February 8th. What are the qualifying ages to enroll in the program? Children entering kindergarten next fall through children who will be completing sixth grade this spring are eligible to enroll in the program. What are the dates that the program will be running? The program runs from June 12th to August 16th and is CLOSED July 4th & 5th. How much will Eagle Zone cost in the summer? Full-day Eagle Zone Programming costs $45/day per child for a standard rate. If the child is registered within three days of the date of care, that is considered a “drop-in”. The drop-in rate is $52/day per child, and subject to availability. There are additional options for families who are also enrolling in EPIC. More information can be found on page 9. What type of schedule do I need to commit to? Families must register for a minimum of 5 days throughout the course of the summer. Families can “pick their days” based on when they need care. Will snacks be provided? Eagle Zone will provide a morning and afternoon snack. Children who wish to have an additional snack are encouraged to bring a healthy option from home. Do children need to bring a lunch? Children must bring a bag lunch and beverage, unless otherwise noted. There may be some field trips where a lunch is provided, but parents will be notified ahead of time when that is to happen. Lunches should be dry bag lunches, with no refrigeration requirements. If this changes, families will be notified by the site staff.

What you need to know about KINDERCAMP What is KinderCamp? KinderCamp is an opportunity for students entering kindergarten in Eden Prairie Schools to build confidence about the start of the school year. Students will experience the elements of a “typical” kindergarten day that will include tours of the building, meeting new friends, learning about their school and spending time in their new school building. KinderCamp will be taught by Eden Prairie teachers, and the students will be able to meet other important school staff each day. Please note that students will not be placed with their kindergarten teacher, as final placements will not be completed at this time.

KinderCamp is FREE! It is hosted by ALL elementary schools, so register your child at the school he/she will attend. There are two sessions to choose from, Monday—Tuesday (August 12—13) -or- Wednesday—Thursday (August 14—15). All sessions are 9:00—11:30 AM.

Online Summer Band Lessons With vacation, trips, and summer camps, it’s tricky to find a consistent day of the week in the summer for band lessons - maybe even impossible. Even if you can find a day, getting to and from the lesson can be a transportation nightmare. Maybe you should try Online Summer Band Lessons!

This course will be a blend of online learning, collaboration with others in the course, and direct instruction from one of the band teachers from Central Middle School in Eden Prairie, Mr. Anderson. It is open to students of all band instruments in grades 5-12: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba, and Percussion. Live, face-to-face meetings will happen only minimally - most of the work will be done by submitting videos of yourself performing the excerpts and assignments. Mr. Anderson will then reply with helpful feedback, recommendations, and assigned material for the next video.

For summer online lessons, one exchange of video lesson material per week is standard. However, if you would like to move faster, we can arrange something. The web-based classroom should work on any device that can browse the internet and record video. There is also a free app available, but it isn’t necessary. Once enrolled, we will set you up with everything you need for the course. Hopefully this is a convenient option for your student to keep an active music life during the summer. Instructor: Ben Anderson #7897 Grades 5—12 June 24—August 16, 2019 $159
