April is the month that we celebrate the Earth and all the resources that help us in our everyday lives. Many of our partners in environmental education will join us to facilitate activities including but not limited to: The Oakland County Dirt Doctors, MSU Tollgate Farm, The Nature Conservancy, and the Friends of 1001 Inventions! Join us daily April 1-5 from 11am to 3pm to create recycled arts and crafts, learn about our natural world, how we can help protect Mother Earth and more!

Special planetarium programs at 11:30am, 12:30, 1:30, and 2:30pm are also available.

Detroit Greenfest

In observance of the global holiday celebrating life on our planet, Earth Day, the hosts its annual GreenFest celebration. The Zoo-wide experience includes demonstrations by SE Michigan the Detroit ’s Green Team, conservation education, citizen science projects and exhibits by local conservation groups.

The Ford House: Welcome Back Birds

Fly back to the estate to celebrate spring and the return of our feathered friends as we Welcome Back Birds at Ford House. Bring the whole flock! Play games, make birdfeeders, go on guided tours and more at this year’s iteration.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for children ages 4 and up. Members are $10 for adults, $8 for children.

MSU Tollgate Annual Earth Day Event

In celebration of Earth Day, MSU Tollgate hosts an annual event. It involves working in the Harvest Garden, 4-H garden, and removing invasive plants from the grounds.

Novi C.A.R.E.S. 2019

In addition to hosting MSU Tollgate, the City of Novi has many other earth day events emphasizing volunteer opportunities.

Cemetery clean-up at the Novi Road Cemetery veteran’s memorial will involve trimming shrubs, trees, and pulling weeds.

Arbor Day at Rotary Park will involve planting, mulching, and weeding the park’s trees.

River Day will involve clean-up of locations along the Rouge River Watershed.

The Earth Day event will be MSU tollgate. See above for details.

Shredding Day will be on the first Saturday of each month, where one can recycle up to 300 pounds of paper for $5. Service provided by Corrigan Record Storage. For more information, contact 248.344.9185.

All events are rain or shine. Hand tools and shovels are recommended; gloves are supplied. We welcome you, your family, congregation or business to join us for our C.A.R.E.S. days. Oakwoods Metropark Earth Day Clean-up

Help us to keep Oakwoods clean and beautiful by tidying up the park. You or your group will be assigned a section of the park to rid of trash. Everyone will gather back at the Nature Center around 11:30 a.m. for a free lunch. Individuals, families and groups welcome. Free daily park entry as a volunteer. Scouts can earn a fun patch. Stage Nature Center: Family Nature Explorers: Earth Day Outdoor Adventure
