    76 th Wales Rally GB (December 4-7, 2008) Citroën targeting the championship double in Wales True to tradition, the grand finale of this year's World Rally Championship will take crews to Great Britain for the Wales Rally GB, the 15 th and ultimate encounter of the season which will settle the outcome of the 2008 Manufacturers' title chase. Having made sure of the Drivers' crown with Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena* in Japan, the Citroën Total squad is particularly fired up as it bids to seal the championship double. C4 WRCs have been entered for the five-time World Champions* and their Spanish team-mates Dani Sordo/Marc Martí. Two other C4 WRCs have been entered to contest the British round. They will be in the hands of Conrad Rautenbach/David Senior and of the recently-crowned Junior World Champions* Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia, and both will be prepared and run by PH Sport with the support of technical staff from Citroën Sport The majority of the route of this year's Wales Rally GB, which provides a little more than 348km of competitive action divided into 19 stages, will take competitors north of the Swansea-based service park, and features several notable changes compared with recent years. These range from a re-mix of familiar forest territory in Resolfen and classics such as Crychan run in the opposite direction, as well as a return to Builth Wells for the first time in eight years.     MEDIA INFORMATION 2018 FIA World Rally Championship Round 12: RallyRACC Catalunya – Rally de España Michelin’s range and people play key role in Catalonia tyre strategies This year’s RallyRACC Catalunya turned out to be colder and wetter than the recent Wales Rally GB, which is certainly saying something! Action kicked off with a super-special in the streets of Barcelona on Thursday evening before crews returned to the service park in Salou, some 80km south of Catalonia’s capital. Spain’s round is the only mixed-surface fixture of the FIA World Rally Championship, with Friday’s leg an all-gravel affair followed by two days on asphalt on Saturday and Sunday. This specificity means teams need to change the configuration of their respective cars on Friday evening, since the suspension parts, transmission systems and settings they use are different for sealed-surfaces. To cover the weekend’s unique mix of surface and weather conditions, Michelin’s partners were able to choose between two distinct tyre ranges, namely the H5 (hard compound) and S6 (soft) versions of the MICHELIN Pilot Sport for the asphalt stages, plus the MICHELIN LTX Force H4 (hard) and MICHELIN LTX Force M6 (medium) for the day on dirt. Meanwhile, the French firm’s WRC2 competitors had a choice between the RH3 (hard) and RS (soft) versions of the MICHELIN Pilot Sport asphalt tyre, and between the MICHELIN Latitude Cross H90 (hard) and S80 (soft) for gravel. When heavy rain swept over the region on Saturday, crews also had the option to fit the MICHELIN Pilot Sport FW3, the specific tread pattern, high ‘sea-to-land’ tread block ratio and oblique lateral water-clearance grooves of which are designed to combine performance on wet roads with resistance to aquaplaning.

According to the figures released by the Macau Grand Prix Committee last Monday, 55,000 spectators gathered on the grandstands along the Guia Track over the weekend, while an estimated 200,000 more watched the races from hotel rooms, flats and restaurants’ terraces around the track. PRIAULX: STORY OF A PHENOMENON Andy Priaulx began his route to become one of the most successful touring car drivers ever four years ago when he clinched the 2004 FIA European Touring Car Championship crown in Dubai. 2004: ETCC, DUBAI – He arrived in the Emirate state with a 12-point gap behind fellow BMW driver Dirk Müller and finished second in both races, equalling Müller’s 111 points but beating him by the dead heat (5 wins against 3). 2005: WTCC, MACAU – In the following season, the first of the new World Touring Car Championship, Müller and Priaulx arrived to the last round in Macau separated by only one point, with Alfa Romeo’s Fabrizio Giovanardi third with a 5-point gap. Again two second places enabled Priaulx to overturn the situation. 2006: WTCC, MACAU – No less than nine drivers arrived in Macau still in contention for the 2006 world championship. Alfa Romeo’s Augusto Farfus was leading before the final round, only one point ahead of the Priaulx-Jörg Müller duo. Priaulx set pole position and won the first race, with Müller sixth; as the German won the second race a fifth place was enough for Priaulx to grab his third title by one point.

Every special stage from each round was streamed live, featuring stunning onboard and helicopter footage. It was supplemented by expert analysis and reactions from across the service park – adding up to more than 325 hours of live coverage. Our traditional TV coverage thrived too. The WRC’s global audi- ence and the number of broadcast hours continue their positive trend of the last years.

Hayden and Seb’s first podium of the season in Turkey on the last round was a nice moment and a plus following a measured and intelligent drive, but we know we missed out on so much more. Because of that, there has been a shift in the championship battle and we need to bounce back and do so quickly. We will aim to do just that in Wales. Thierry and Nicolas led in Turkey and showed that the pace of our Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC was strong on the very rough stages we found there. The points they scored for winning the Power Stage after an impressive performance showed what might have been and could yet have a crucial bearing in the final championship reckoning. It is unfortunate that Turkey didn’t go to plan for Hyundai Motorsport, but we have to accept the situation and come back fighting; it is what rallying is all about. The positive things are clear: we have a good car, good drivers, Thierry and Nicolas still lead the championship and were competitive on Rally GB last year. Like Thierry and Nicolas, Andreas and Anders also led in Turkey. Andreas spent much of his early career in Wales and has a good knowledge of the terrain and what he needs to do to be quick.

Rob Bell secured his second Le Mans Series title by winning the final race on home ground, at Silverstone. Bell shared the Dunlop-supported Ferrari with defending American Le Mans Series champion Jaime Melo. His regular co-driver, Gianmaria Bruni, was on FIA GT Championship duty for Ferrari. Bell led away from pole position in the Virgo Motorsport Ferrari 430 GT, running on Dunlop’s GT2 tyre, and never looked back throughout the 1000km race. With four wins from five races, the British driver won the title by five points from Marc Lieb, who drove the Michelin-shod Felbermayr Proton Porsche with Australian Alex Davison. “We have worked very hard with Dunlop over the last two years, and at this point I would be very confident going into any race on Dunlop,” says Bell. “That tyre feels like my little baby, not that I am Casper Elgaard leads Olivier Pla at Silverstone - Pla finished third in LMP2 for Dunlop saying it is all down to me, not at all!
