INSTRUMENT CARE & REPAIR: All instrument cases are to be labeled with the student’s name clearly visible. This will assist in avoiding confusion of ​ ownership of like instruments and will also help locating lost or misplaced instruments. Open instrument storage is provided during the school day for large travel instruments. Small travel instruments are to be stored in lockers. Students should take their instruments home every day and every weekend to practice and for security/safety. Students are responsible for the care of their instruments, including any repair work; school band instruments requiring repairs should be reported to the teacher.

INSTRUMENT PURCHASING *CAUTION* In recent years, many very poor quality musical instruments have become easily available. Unfortunately, ​ "you get what you pay for.” These off-brand instruments are not made by reputable music companies. They are not easily repaired and replacement parts are often not available. The materials used to build the instruments cannot withstand normal repair procedures. They are not built using quality materials or design specifications and do not play well in tune or produce good quality sound. These issues put the student performer at a severe disadvantage. Please consult with your child's band teacher or your local music shop before purchasing an instrument. ​ PERCUSSION SUPPLY LIST Every percussion student must have his/her own sticks and mallets. The following items will provide the student with ​ a minimum, general assortment of percussion equipment. Sticks and mallets must be brought to all rehearsals, lessons, and performances. Please label all equipment with your child's initials using a permanent marker or nail polish. ​ ​ For Home: Drum Pad and/or Concert Snare Drum, & Bell kit (2-1/2 octave with stand). School Rentals: French horn, Euphonium, Tuba The school district rents all French horns, Euphoniums, and Tubas. All Orchard Park Central School District instrument rentals cost $50.00 for the year. Please complete the rental form when you receive it and return it with payment to the ​ ​ Middle School. Checks made payable to Orchard Park Central Schools. Your rental fee covers one instrument at home and one at school. Every brass student is responsible for providing their own instrument supplies including a ​ mouthpiece. It is not necessary to purchase an instrument for your child at this time, however if you are interested in ​ doing so, we suggest contacting us for recommendations.
