Member’s Annual Report 2015/16

This is the report by the Councillor below regarding her key activities over the year ending 31 March 2016. It is provided for the information of all constituents and for no other purpose. The views expressed in this report are those of the Councillor and they do not necessarily reflect the views of the Isle of County Council.

1 - Role & Responsibilities

During this third year on the Council I was given the responsibility of Shadow Portfolio for Planning and Public Protection. I have remained in the role of Vice Chair of Planning and Licencing Committee. Member of the Corporate Scrutiny Committee, honing my scrutinising skills.

Between April 2015 and March 2016, I sat on the following main 1Attendance Figures committees / sub-committees: Council 6 (75%) Corporate Scrutiny Committee 8 (89%) Planning and Orders Committee (Vice-Chair) 14 (100%) Licensing Committee (Vice-Chair) 1 (100%) Joint Planning Policy Committee 2 (100%) Corporate Parenting Panel 1 (25%) The statistics provided are relevant only to the committees listed in this table. The statistics do not include attendance at other meetings related to the work of the Council.

Attendance levels may vary due to the nature of work and responsibilities of members - as portfolio holder, committee chair or representing the Council on outside bodies, for example.

I am a member of the Isle of Anglesey Charitable Trust and attended 2 meetings (33%). I am also a member of the Trust’s Investment and Contracts Sub-Committee.

Governor Ysgol Gyfun Llangefni and member of the Personnel Sub Group.

Governor Ysgol Gynradd Bodorgan and member of the Audit and Disciplinary Sub Groups. I am also the Governor taking a lead with child protection and meet the Headmistress regularly to discuss welfare concerns.

3 - Initiatives and Special Activities

 Successful effort campaigning to keep the car park in Newborough for residents and create an opportunity for a community business  Successful effort to bring “Park Run” to Newborough Forest through working closely with N.R.W. and the Local Authority Sports Officer  Supported community events – Cyngerdd Mawreddog Dothan, Ysgol Bodorgan Christmas concert, Moniars - Pritchard Jones Institute, Gymanfa Ganu Llangaffo, Aberffraw 14 community consultations

Case-working Activities

 Advocating on behalf of residents on a range of issues e.g. Planning applications/objections, homelessness, parking and congestion, rat infestation, dog excrement in public places

4 - Learning and Development
