Innistrad is a top-down block designed by a block based on gothic horror. The mechanics and effects of the set are mainly devoted to the themes of the cemetery, with little emphasis on tribal themes. The slogan for the Horror set lurks inside. It has 264 cards. Magic returned to the Innistrad in 2016 with Shadows Over Innistrad, consisting of Shadows Over Innistrad and Eldritch Moon. This article is dedicated to the original Innistrad block. Design and development According to Magic lead designer Mark Rosewater, the number one role of this set design has been capturing the feel of the horror genre. Monsters were one of the first tropes explored that led to the tribal component of the set. Dark Ascension Dark Ascension was first revealed at the 2011 Comic-Con in San Diego, California. Just like Worldwake, Dark Ascension is a small set between two large sets. Dark Ascension always contain two-faced two-faced any rarity to replace one of the common in the package. Much of the development had a top-down approach. The Dark Ascension develops the themes of Innistrada. The plane still suffers from werewolves, zombies, vampires, spirits and other creatures of the night. The set puts a stronger emphasis on these types of creatures, giving each type of monster more support. Meanwhile, people are on the verge of extinction and must take desperate measures to stop the wave. Dark Ascension has several broken cycles (a cycle where one color is omitted) to show how people mark. (tone) The storyline of the Innistrad Block Events centered on the event after sundering Helvault, a giant piece of silver metal that was used by the archangel Avacyn to imprison Innistrad's worst horror demons. Then reveals why the archangel Avachin disappeared from the plane in the first place, leaving people on the plane defenseless against the Gothic horrors of Innistrada. In the early days of Avachin's presence in Innistrad, long before the block took place, the archangel sought to rid the plane of its demonic influences. Accompanied by her fellow angels, she defied every demon she encountered to a solitary battle by winning and sending them one by one. However, since demons are creatures made up of pure mana, their defeat meant only that their physical forms were destroyed, their dark essence lives on. Eventually the black mana merges into another dark corner of the plane, and another demon appears. Soon Avachin noted that no matter how many times the demon was defeated, his place would always be. All that its destruction will buy is a temporary peace to the affected towns and villages. So she took an oath, saying: What cannot be destroyed must be connected. This oath is reflected in the symbol of the archangel herself, the collar of Avachina, formed to bind any evil that would not be destroyed. With this new purpose in mind, Avacyn used her divine magic to trap demons, one by one in Helvault. She was so successful in this that after a while, only the older demons of the plane remained free from the magical prison of Helwalt. It was then that the great demon Griselbrand decided to challenge Avachina in one battle, boldly landing on the top of Helwalt himself. For many days, the battle between the archangel and the archdemon was raging, watched only by the top officials of the church (such as Mikaev, the moonwalker) and the most powerful angel compatriots of Avachina (Gisela, the leader of the angelic flight of Goldnite, was the only one clearly mentioned to be a spectator). Seeing how she could not defeat Griselbrand, Evachin used all her remaining power to cast a final binding spell to drive the archdemone into Helwalt and seal it forever. However, at that moment, the demon showed his endgame, archangel himself in his prison. Using his spear, Griselbrand shoved the weapon through her, giving her a fatal blow just as the binding spell was completed. The spell backfired, drawing an angel and demon to Helwalt, and the regular audience watched with horror as their beloved archangel was punctured and then imprisoned in a magical piece of moonlight. Due to fears that the news of Avachina's disappearance would cause mass hysteria and panic among the inhabitants of the plane, Mikaev and other church officials decided to hide any reports about the reason for the disappearance of the archangel. However, the archimades and clergy of the Church soon began to feel the consequences of the disappearance of the archangel. Spells, parishes, and spells began to fail throughout Innistrada. Prayers to the archangel remained unanswered. Monsters and creatures of the night no longer held in fear by the holy power of Avachina. Feeling weak, the werewolf Innistrad howled, vampire hordes and stop waves of zombies began to actively hunt people. At the beginning of these events in Innistrada Planeswalker Liliana Wess came to the plane innistrada to return her soul, which she exchanged for four demons in exchange for beauty and power. She believes that by killing her dark debtors, her own deal will be nullified, and she will not have to continue to be subservient to these demons. In the early days of her demonic masters, she eventually found and declared a dark artifact known as the Chain Veil, greatly enhanced by the potential of its dark magic. Liliana used the power of the Veil to kill one of her four demonic masters, Kotofeda, and she tracked down her next target, Griselbrand, in Innistrada. During the search for the demon Liliana was inhabited by Planeswalker Garruk Wildspeaker, on which she used the Chain Veil to bestow a curse in a previous meeting. However, she managed to fend off him because of the moisturizing properties of the curse of the Veil on the magic of Garruk's nature. Eventually, Garruk was crushed by a small army of the undead raised by Liliana and left dead. Reaching the great city of Traben, Liliana reveals the plot of two rival necromans to besiege the holy city, the blue-centric stitch Of Geralf, and his black-oriented gulcaller sister Gizu. Despite the fact that the city received warning messages from the Cathars and inquisitors, not much was done to strengthen the city walls and the absence of chambers. Because of this lack of proper training, the holy city was taken by surprise by the massive army both brothers and sisters had accumulated. In the end, only the quick thinking of cathar Talia saved the city from total destruction. Talia's plan was simple, using the thatched roofs of Traben's houses to create a ring of fire, burning the entire army of the undead. The plan was a success much of the city was spared from the undead hordes, albeit due to the loss of many cathars and buildings due to a large fire. Despite this successful defense, during the siege, Geralph penetrated the heart of the city and killed Mikaeus, the moonwalker himself. Not wanting the news to demoralize the plane's already depressed human beings, other church officials buried the moon rover in secret. Liliana used this opportunity to raise Mikaeus from the dead and interrogate the corpse about Griselbrand's whereabouts, instead learning of the epic battle between Evachina and her demonic master and their current capture in Helwalt. Not possessing magic capable of saturate a large silver mass, Liliana approached the problem from a different angle. She resuscitated a small army of ghouls and zombies and began attacking the sanctuary where Helwalt lived. Now tasked with protecting Helvault at all costs, the newly appointed Guardian of Traben, Talia has clashed with Liliana with a squad of elite cathars supporting her. Catching them completely by surprise, Liliana paralyzed a group of cathars with a wave of dark magic and gave Talia this ultimatum: ponder Helvo, or see how her comrades get into the army of the undead. He only took the smothered cry of one catarrh as he fell victim to the ghouls that Talia pointed at Helvault and cursed Liliana. With a big explosion, the silver prison that was Helvault destroyed, freeing demons and the archangel alike.

It is this interaction that creates a unique community for Magic, which leads to the game’s global popularity, including its tremendous growth since 2010. This thesis looks at trade publications, articles written about Magic, player responses collected through online surveys, and other works to create an extensive work on Magic and its community. Its structure differed from later Worlds in several aspects. It was a single elimination tournament, that everybody could enter until all 512 seats were taken. The format was Vintage, called ’Type I’ at the time. Eventually American Zak Dolan won the tournament with a Bant Stasis Control deck, that of course nobody would have called ’Bant’ back then. In 1995 the second World Championship was held and its structure resembled later tournaments much more closely. The tournament commenced with five rounds of Sealed Deck on the first day, and continued with five rounds of Standard, then called ’Type II’. On the third day a cut was made to the best eight players, and they fought for the title with their Standard decks from the previous day in this final elimination stage.
