Innistrad is a top-down block designed by a block based on gothic horror. The mechanics and effects of the set are mainly devoted to the themes of the cemetery, with little emphasis on tribal themes. The slogan for the Horror set lurks inside. It has 264 cards. Magic returned to the Innistrad in 2016 with Shadows Over Innistrad, consisting of Shadows Over Innistrad and Eldritch Moon. This article is dedicated to the original Innistrad block. Design and development According to Magic lead designer , the number one role of this set design has been capturing the feel of the horror genre. Monsters were one of the first tropes explored that led to the tribal component of the set. Dark Ascension Dark Ascension was first revealed at the 2011 Comic-Con in San Diego, California. Just like Worldwake, Dark Ascension is a small set between two large sets. Dark Ascension always contain two-faced two-faced any rarity to replace one of the common in the package. Much of the development had a top-down approach. The Dark Ascension develops the themes of Innistrada. The plane still suffers from werewolves, zombies, vampires, spirits and other creatures of the night. The set puts a stronger emphasis on these types of creatures, giving each type of monster more support. Meanwhile, people are on the verge of extinction and must take desperate measures to stop the wave. Dark Ascension has several broken cycles (a cycle where one color is omitted) to show how people mark. (tone) The storyline of the Innistrad Block Events centered on the event after sundering Helvault, a giant piece of silver metal that was used by the archangel Avacyn to imprison Innistrad's worst horror demons. Then reveals why the archangel Avachin disappeared from the plane in the first place, leaving people on the plane defenseless against the Gothic horrors of Innistrada. In the early days of Avachin's presence in Innistrad, long before the block took place, the archangel sought to rid the plane of its demonic influences. Accompanied by her fellow angels, she defied every demon she encountered to a solitary battle by winning and sending them one by one. However, since demons are creatures made up of pure mana, their defeat meant only that their physical forms were destroyed, their dark essence lives on. Eventually the black mana merges into another dark corner of the plane, and another demon appears. Soon Avachin noted that no matter how many times the demon was defeated, his place would always be. All that its destruction will buy is a temporary peace to the affected towns and villages. So she took an oath, saying: What cannot be destroyed must be connected. This oath is reflected in the symbol of the archangel herself, the collar of Avachina, formed to bind any evil that would not be destroyed. With this new purpose in mind, Avacyn used her divine magic to trap demons, one by one in Helvault. She was so successful in this that after a while, only the older demons of the plane remained free from the magical prison of Helwalt. It was then that the great demon Griselbrand decided to challenge Avachina in one battle, boldly landing on the top of Helwalt himself. For many days, the battle between the archangel and the archdemon was raging, watched only by the top officials of the church (such as Mikaev, the moonwalker) and the most powerful angel compatriots of Avachina (Gisela, the leader of the angelic flight of Goldnite, was the only one clearly mentioned to be a spectator). Seeing how she could not defeat Griselbrand, Evachin used all her remaining power to cast a final binding spell to drive the archdemone into Helwalt and seal it forever. However, at that moment, the demon showed his endgame, archangel himself in his prison. Using his spear, Griselbrand shoved the weapon through her, giving her a fatal blow just as the binding spell was completed. The spell backfired, drawing an angel and demon to Helwalt, and the regular audience watched with horror as their beloved archangel was punctured and then imprisoned in a magical piece of moonlight. Due to fears that the news of Avachina's disappearance would cause mass hysteria and panic among the inhabitants of the plane, Mikaev and other church officials decided to hide any reports about the reason for the disappearance of the archangel. However, the archimades and clergy of the Church soon began to feel the consequences of the disappearance of the archangel. Spells, parishes, and spells began to fail throughout Innistrada. Prayers to the archangel remained unanswered. Monsters and creatures of the night no longer held in fear by the holy power of Avachina. Feeling weak, the werewolf Innistrad howled, vampire hordes and stop waves of zombies began to actively hunt people. At the beginning of these events in Innistrada Planeswalker Liliana Wess came to the plane innistrada to return her soul, which she exchanged for four demons in exchange for beauty and power. She believes that by killing her dark debtors, her own deal will be nullified, and she will not have to continue to be subservient to these demons. In the early days of her demonic masters, she eventually found and declared a dark artifact known as the Chain Veil, greatly enhanced by the potential of its dark magic. Liliana used the power of the Veil to kill one of her four demonic masters, Kotofeda, and she tracked down her next target, Griselbrand, in Innistrada. During the search for the demon Liliana was inhabited by Planeswalker Garruk Wildspeaker, on which she used the Chain Veil to bestow a curse in a previous meeting. However, she managed to fend off him because of the moisturizing properties of the curse of the Veil on the magic of Garruk's nature. Eventually, Garruk was crushed by a small army of the undead raised by Liliana and left dead. Reaching the great city of Traben, Liliana reveals the plot of two rival necromans to besiege the holy city, the blue-centric stitch Of Geralf, and his black-oriented gulcaller sister Gizu. Despite the fact that the city received warning messages from the Cathars and inquisitors, not much was done to strengthen the city walls and the absence of chambers. Because of this lack of proper training, the holy city was taken by surprise by the massive army both brothers and sisters had accumulated. In the end, only the quick thinking of cathar Talia saved the city from total destruction. Talia's plan was simple, using the thatched roofs of Traben's houses to create a ring of fire, burning the entire army of the undead. The plan was a success much of the city was spared from the undead hordes, albeit due to the loss of many cathars and buildings due to a large fire. Despite this successful defense, during the siege, Geralph penetrated the heart of the city and killed Mikaeus, the moonwalker himself. Not wanting the news to demoralize the plane's already depressed human beings, other church officials buried the moon rover in secret. Liliana used this opportunity to raise Mikaeus from the dead and interrogate the corpse about Griselbrand's whereabouts, instead learning of the epic battle between Evachina and her demonic master and their current capture in Helwalt. Not possessing magic capable of saturate a large silver mass, Liliana approached the problem from a different angle. She resuscitated a small army of ghouls and zombies and began attacking the sanctuary where Helwalt lived. Now tasked with protecting Helvault at all costs, the newly appointed Guardian of Traben, Talia has clashed with Liliana with a squad of elite cathars supporting her. Catching them completely by surprise, Liliana paralyzed a group of cathars with a wave of dark magic and gave Talia this ultimatum: ponder Helvo, or see how her comrades get into the army of the undead. He only took the smothered cry of one catarrh as he fell victim to the ghouls that Talia pointed at Helvault and cursed Liliana. With a big explosion, the silver prison that was Helvault destroyed, freeing demons and the archangel alike. No one noticed the ribbons of black mana cutting through from the destroyed remains. All eyes were fixed on the golden spiral, having stretched into the sky. Avachin is back on the plane. When Helwalt crashed, Akachin appeared in full force. Her presence once again curbed the Avachin's protective chambers with holy magic. Her angelic master was fully restored, giving people a chance to prevail in their fight against evil. The three flight angels are reformed in greater numbers than before. Once again, they became Avachina's soldiers on the front line. Only this time, instead of barely containing the monsters of the world, angels and their human allies began to push them back, away from the bastions of human civilization. It's the first time they've won. Now that Griselbrand has also been released from Helvo, Liliana continues to search for the demon, and her release from the fallen contract in which she joined. Meanwhile, the horrors of the plane were still driven away by the new force of the Church. In the process of clearing the city of Gatstaff of the threat of werewolf howling, residents turned to Avacyn to remove the curse of lycanthropy on their loved ones, whom they could not bear to see put to death because of a curse they could not control. Though she could not undo the curse of the werewolf, she that instead it would turn those who suffer from the curse (but are faithful to her and the Church) by merging the warring aspects of man and wolf into one being; Wolfir. In a powerful wave of spells that became known as the Curse, Avacyn's magic reverberated across the plane, turning not only many werewolves, but undoing many of the world's foul curses. Wolfir emerged as a new race of great wolf beings dedicated to the principles of the Avachin Church. The curse had an unintended effect on the plane visitor: Garruk Wildspeaker. As the Curse swept the earth, Garruk was knee-deep in a swamp surrounded by the severed limbs of Liliana's ghouls. He had barely managed to defeat them, and burdened with the curse of the Veil, slowly descended into madness. Close to death and tormented by pain and rage, Garruk's mind eluded him. He wandered through blind circles, shouted at the crows, and imagined monsters. Perhaps it was the end of the great hunter, but for the events unfolding in Gatstaf Spring. When Avacin's taumatturgia reached him, Garruk came to his senses. He looked at his hands, watching the black veins recede from his skin. He was overcome with joy in the sudden absence of pain and disease. But the relief was short-lived. After a few seconds the veins reappeared, his blood seemed to thicken to resin, and his back bent under the weight of the curse of the veil once more. The curse was enough to bring him back from madness and death, but it was not enough to cure him. Leaving the swamp, he came across the Angel's Way, making a good pass between Kessing and Traben. He knew that Liliana was on his way to Traben, and he could persevere. Or he could have struck out another way, to the origin of the magic he felt so strongly. There was a force on this plane that could heal the curses. Maybe there was another way to rid him of his evil burden - a way that is not related to the death of a witch. The tribes in Innistrada, there are five tribes, the main types of creatures that also play the role mechanically. Each tribe is associated with an allied color combination. People - People meet in all colors, but are found mainly in white and green. White people are often portrayed as religious officials and warriors under the Avacyn Church, while green people are usually monster hunters. This is the first set in which people are treated as a tribe. Spirits - Spirits mostly fall under white and blue mana, but also from time to time appear in other colors. White spirits usually represent the benevolent spirits of the guardian while the blue spirits represent mischievous geists. The zombies - the zombies occur in black and blue. Blue zombies (or skaabs) are Frankenstein's monster-like creatures, stitched from disparate body parts and resuscitated by necro-alchemists, while The zombies are the ones that have risen from the graves through necromance and attack in the hordes. Vampires - vampires are found in black and red. Black vampires demonstrate sophisticated individuals who form vampire aristocratic families, while red vampires usually depict vampires who indulge in worldly pleasures or are wild with bloodthirsty, becoming full of blood-saving savages. Werewolves - Werewolves occur in red and green. Each werewolf is a double-faced card with conversion mechanics. One side of each of the werewolf cards represents the injured person, while the other side is an actual werewolf that the damned person turns into when certain conditions are met. Green werewolves are usually hermits and outsals, while red werewolves are mostly bandits and renegades. Innistrad Mechanics introduces four new mechanics (Curse, Fight, Morbid, Transformation) and re-introduces one old mechanic (Flashback). Curses is a new subtype of enchantment that fascinates the player, causing negative consequences (hence the name) of varying degrees. Fighting is a new key word that refers to two beings who inflict damage on each other equal to their power simultaneously (it appeared on previous maps, but this is the first time it has been key). Morbid conditions arise if a creature has died earlier in turn that the spell is cast or the ability is used. The transformation mechanics allow certain creatures to become different creatures after certain conditions on the map are met. Every card that can be transformed is a double card. The returning mechanic (from the Odyssey and blocks) was a memory. Spells with memories can be reproduced again from the graveyard, essentially getting a second use out of the spell. However, using the flashback option removes the card from the game. All of Innistrad's basic mechanics, including double-faced cards, return to Dark Ascension. Many of the two-faced cards in the Dark Ascension are people on one side and werewolves on the other. Dark Ascension also has a number of cards with the number 13. Two new mechanics debuted in Dark Ascension: Fateful Hour and Undying. Cards with fateful clocks have an increased effect when their controller has 5 or fewer points of life. Undying is a new keyword mechanic that appears on creature maps. When a creature with immortal dies, if it did not have counters No.1/No1, it returns to the battlefield with counter No.1/No1, effectively allowing the creature to survive at least once. Two new mechanics debuted in Avacyn Restored: Miracle and Soulbond Miracle is a new key word found on moments and witchcraft. Spells with Miracle have a cheaper, alternative casting cost, can be paid if the spell was the first card drawn during the turn and then immediately cast after being drawn. Soulbond is the new keyword word that appears on the cards of creatures. When a soulbond creature enters the battlefield, it can be paired with another creature that the player controls, giving bonus powers to both creatures until one or both creatures leave the game. Conversely, if another creature enters the game, it may be paired with an unspared creature with Soulbond. From the mechanics of Innistrada and the Dark Ascension, only the immortal returns for Evachina.
