In this period, Basic Trainees must register with one of the four Surgical Colleges of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Intercollegiate Board of Surgical Colleges (HKICBSC). HKICBSC composes of the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong (CSHK), the Hong Kong College of Emergency Medicine (HKCEM), the Hong Kong College of Orthopaedic Surgeons (HKCOS) and the Hong Kong College of Otorhinolaryngologists (HKCORL). Basic Training is under the auspices of HKICBSC. A Register of Basic Surgical Trainees is maintained at CSHK. ELIGIBILIY FOR ADMISSION TO BASIC SURGICAL TRAINING To enter the Basic Surgical Training Programme of HKICBSC in Hong Kong, applicants must fulfill the following requirements: One must be fully registered with the Medical Council of Hong Kong. One must obtain a training post from the approved hospitals or institutions in Hong Kong. Please refer to the “Eligibility for Basic Surgical Training” for further details. SUBMISSION DEADLINE All trainees who decide to enroll into Basic Training Programme under HKICBSC must register with HKICBSC within the first month of training. -

Hospital Authority Enhances Electronic Payment Services (With Photos)
Hospital Authority enhances electronic payment services (with photos) The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority: The Hospital Authority (HA) has recently introduced over 30 new one-stop electronic kiosks in 13 public hospitals* to progressively replace the existing old model. The new electronic kiosks enhance the registration and payment functions for specialist outpatient services. Patients or their carers can use either the appointment slip or the patient's Hong Kong Identity Card to register for consultation and settle attendance fees and drug charges, which is more convenient and can save queuing time. The new kiosks accept payments by Octopus and contactless credit cards issued by local banks. The HA will continue to replace the old electronic kiosks, enhance the kiosks' functionalities and provide more payment means such as accepting payments by electronic wallets. Furthermore, HA hospital shroff offices now accept payments by electronic wallets, where patients can make payments by presenting the Quick Response code (Alipay or WeChat Pay) on their smartphones. Patients are offered more choices on top of the traditional payment methods, including cash, Octopus and credit cards. The public may enquire at the hospitals' shroff offices for more information. If persons subject to compulsory testing have previously undergone testing between April 24 and April 26, 2021, they would be taken to have complied with the requirements set out in the compulsory testing notice. The study considers the discursive transformation of cultural heritage as a feature of Hong Kong’s transition since the 1997 retrocession to Chinese sovereignty. Specifically, it traces the contradictory growth of interest in heritage as an urban amenity on the part of the government, and its simultaneous framing as a socio-political critique of neoliberal governance on the part of actors in civil society. The study analyses these dynamics from a perspective attentive to the relationships – forged through various forms of mobility and comparison – between Hong Kong and other places including mainland China, Great Britain, and urban competitors. The project relies on data gathered through English-language research conducted over a period of two and a half years. Sixty in-depth interviews were carried out with experts, activists, professionals and politicians in Hong Kong. Extensive surveys of government documents, the print and online media, and archival materials were undertaken. Other methods employed include site visits and participant observation. The methodology was oriented around the analysis of processes of heritage policy and contestation over a number of sites in Central, Hong Kong and surrounding districts where contradictory visions of the meaning of heritage have played out materially. -

Together We Build the Drainage Tunnel Together We Alleviate Flooding To alleviate the flooding problem of Northern Hong Kong Island, we are constructing a drainage tunnel of about 11km long and 34 intakes to intercept stormwater and discharge it directly to sea. For details, please visit the Project website www.dsd.gov.hk/HKWDT. Progress Updates and Works Schedule Tunnelling Works The progress of the tunnelling works is satisfactory. About 80% and 65% of the tunnel excavated for the Eastern and Western Portal respectively have been completed. LC Paper No. CB(2)1228/16-17(07) For discussion on 25 April 2017 Legislative Council Panel on Health Services Extension of Operating Theatre Block of Tuen Mun Hospital – Main Works Purpose This paper briefs Members on the proposed main works of the project on the extension of the Operating Theatre (OT) Block of Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH). Background 2. At present, the Hospital Authority (HA) provides public hospital services for Tuen Mun and Yuen Long districts through its New Territories West Cluster (NTWC), which comprises TMH, Pok Oi Hospital, Castle Peak Hospital, Siu Lam Hospital and Tin Shui Wai Hospital. TMH, established in 1989, provides a comprehensive range of specialty services at secondary and tertiary levels. Over the years, the population of Tuen Mun and Yuen Long districts has grown rapidly. According to the latest projection of the Census and Statistics Department and the Planning Department, the total population of the two districts was 1 117 500 in mid-2015 and is projected to reach 1 241 300 by mid-2024, representing an increase of 11%. While there has been continuous expansion in service capacity in NTWC in the past few years1 to strengthen the provision of medical services to the 1 Namely the commissioning of additional beds at TMH and Pok Oi Hospital, opening of Tin Shui Wai (Tin Yip Road) Community Health Centre, and commissioning of Tin Shui Wai Hospital in phases from early 1 local community, there is a genuine need to expand the OT facilities, accident and emergency (A&E) department and radiology department of TMH in view of the projected population growth and TMH’s status as the major acute hospital and tertiary referral centre for the NTWC.
