Itinerary Day 1 - Departing Cape Town Depart Cape Town via Sir Lowrys Pass. After travelling the plateau of expansive apple orchards in and around Grabouw, arrive at the charming town of Swellendam and continue through the folded sandstone mountains of the Huis River and Tradouw Passes. Route 62 highlights the true diversity of landscapes and ever changing semi-desert areas of the Klein Karoo. Pass through the towns of Barrydale and Calitzdorp to Oudtshoorn. Enjoy a hearty dinner (not included) (B) Day 2 - Cango Caves, Wildlife Parks, Scenic Drives After breakfast, start the day with a visit to the world famous Cango Caves for a fully guided tour. Time permitting an optional tour of the Crocodile and Cheetah Park is also available. Visit the Safari Ostrich Farm for a glimpse at how a working ostrich farm works. After lunch (not included) continue to George over the Outeniqua Pass. Scenic drive via Dolphin Point to Wilderness and on to South Africas oyster capital Knysna. Enjoy dinner (not included) at one of the wonderful local restaurants that the Waterfront has to offer. (B) Day 3 - Millionares Playground and Storms River Departing Knysna we continue via the millionaires playground of Plettenberg Bay to the Tsitsikamma Forest area. Remember to keep an eye out for the rare Knysna Loerie when visiting the Big Tree. After lunch (not included) at the scenic Storms River Mouth, gaze in awe at the scenery whilst crossing the bridge over the Storms River, where photographic opportunities abound. Leaving the Garden Route via the high forests of Tsitsikamma, we arrive in Port Elizabeth for drop off at your hotel or at Port Elizabeth Airport. Destination Information Cape Town Cape Town is the most beautiful and popular tourist destinations in South Africa due to its good climate, natural setting, and relatively well-developed infrastructure. It is the provincial capital of the Western Cape, as well as the legislative capital of South Africa, where the National Parliament and many government offices are located. Also famous for its harbor as well as, its natural setting in the Cape floral kingdom, including such well-known landmarks as Table Mountain and Cape Point. Knysna The Magical Garden Route(© www.palacetours.com) 1/5 Knysna is a town in the Western Cape Province, and one of the Garden Route's best known travel destinations. The town nestles between the impressive Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean. It was primarily built on the northern shore of a large warm-water estuary, fed by the Knysna River. The estuary opens to the ocean after passing between two large headlands known as the "The Heads". Also it is famous to be the the end point of the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe steam railway, and as home to the fabled Knysna forest elephant. Knysna offer visitors an unforgettable holiday, from the very adventurous holidaymakers, to those who prefer relaxing in the sun, strolling through the cool forests or taking scenic day drives. Oudtshoorn The largest town in the Little Karoo region of South Africa, it is also home to the world's largest Ostrich population with a number of specialized ostrich breeding farms such as the Safari Show Farm and the Highgate Ostrich Show Farm. The area in which Oudtshoorn is situated was originally inhabited by the Bushmen, as evidenced by the many rock paintings that are found in caves throughout the surrounding Swartberg Mountains. The town has many tourist attractions places, such as the Cango Caves, the Cango Wildlife Ranch and the CP Nel Museum. Port Elizabeth Port Elizabeth is situated in the Eastern Cape Province, and is one of the major seaports in South Africa. Port Elizabeth was founded as a town in 1820 to house British settlers as a way of strengthening the border region between the Cape Colony and the warlike Xhosa tribe. The city has many wonderful attraction can be seen whilst taking a 5 km stroll along the Donkin Heritage Trail which makes its way through the city centre. Start with the Donkin Reserve; witch was created in honor of Sir Rufane Donkin's wife, Elizabeth, after whom the city is named. It is a park on a hill overlooking the central district of the city and the waterfront, and contains a lighthouse and a small stone pyramid. Also, Fort Frederick (1799) witch was built by British troops to protect against a possible landing of French Troops. Visit the Horse Memorial, was erected to honor the horses which died during the Second Boer War. From points North: Via Route 1: Take Route 1 South towards Trenton. After you pass Forrestal Village Campus, you will begin to see signs for “Downtown Princeton & Shopping”. Turn right on Washington Road. Follow Washington Road for approximately 1.5 miles. Turn left on Nassau Street (Route 27). Turn right on Stockton Street (Route 206 North) & follow for approximately 4 miles. Turn right onto Wall Street. Via Route 287: Take Route 287 South towards Somerville. Take exit 17 for Route 206 South (Somerville). You will pass through a traffic circle – follow signs for Route 206 South. Follow Route 206 South for approximately 12 miles. Turn left onto Wall Street. From points South: Via the Garden State Parkway: Take the Parkway North/South to exit 98 for Route 138 West toward Trenton. Route 138 West becomes Route 195 West. Follow 195 West for approximately 17 miles. Merge onto Route 295 North toward Trenton. Follow directions below. Via Route 95/ 295: Take Route 95 North until it becomes Route 295 North toward Trenton. Take exit 67A and merge onto Route 1 North. Follow Route 1 North for approximately 5 miles. Take the exit for Washington Road. Turn right on Stockton Street (Route 206 North) & follow for approximately 4 miles. Turn right onto Wall Street. By train: Princeton Junction is the main train station along the Northeast Corridor for Amtrak and New Jersey Transit. Visitors can take a cab from here to Princeton or transfer to a one-car train to Princeton called the "Dinky". The train ride takes about 5 minutes, and drops you at University Place across from McCarter Theatre. If you choose this option, be sure to purchase a rail ticket to “Princeton” for presentation upon boarding the Dinky.
