  • A Band Together. but Who Knew We'd Find As Durable an Application Of
o R M D EVERY MUSICIAN KNOWS IT’s THE RHYTHM SECTION THAT HOLDS a band together. But who knew we’d find as durable an application of that maxim as the one exemplified by the history of Fleetwood Mac? & Over the last thirty years, Fleetwood Mac has comprised fifteen musicians shuffled through six major lineups, resulting in endless tin- kerings with tone and genre. Yet the two members to survive it all rarely write tunes and never front the recordings. They’re the beat- keepers - drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John Me Vie. The fact that a rhythm section could sustain a band through thirty years seems all the more amazing considering the traumatic histories of the band’s shifting array o f stage-front stars. Together, their personal lives have given rock one of its most elaborate and juicy plotlines. (L It all began humbly enough. In 1967, the B Y J I M FÄRBER The band in '69: Peter original foursome convened as arch Fame entrant, Santana). If that wasn’t enough, Rose also saw the Green, Fleetwood, Jeremy devotees of the blues, arriving in the band adding nineteen-year-old Danny Kirwan (who’d played in Spencer, Danny Kirwan, second wave of U.K.

  • UFO 17. Juni 2019 Stuttgart-Wangen LKA/Longhorn Last Orders 50Th
UFO 17.

  • Light Shows at the Youth Centre
Light shows at the Youth Centre Transcription of excerpts from interviews with Stuart Davis and Richard Jones Stuart: I went to what was then Malvern School of Art, but at the time the Youth Centre, which was next door, now Malvern Cube, we used to go there in lunch times. And we got friendly with all the people that were the youth, what do they call them, the youth--, the person that was in charge of the youth centre anyway. And they started putting on bands in the evenings, and we started this light show. A light show then was what they used to call a psychedelic light show, it was projections basically. We got a load of bed sheets, which we got sewn together by someone, we used to hang that up at the back of the stage. We would set up on tables at the back of the hall, and we’d have what were called Aldis Projectors, and they were a slide projector with a bowl. And we used to muck around, we’d upgrade them and put Meccano motors on the lenses with flicker wheels. And then in between the lens and the lamp house you would have various effects you could project, whether they were liquid or oils, so you get all these moving effects on the band and on the back. And when I think back it's quite amazing 'cause you had the likes of Jethro Tull, Family, Chicken Shack, who was a very small band with a singer called Christine Perfect, who actually became Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac, you know, one of the biggest bands in the world really.

Moore released his rst solo album at the age of 22, the critically acclaimed Mind’s Eye. On October 23 he will release Aerial Visions, another instrumental album; the personnel include Jason Bonham (son of the late John Bonham) and Ulrich Roth from vintage Scorpions. Details can be found on his ofcial website. Meanwhile, on the same day Moore will be playing with UFO at Benscheim, Germany, on their latest tour. In December, UFO will be opening for Judas Priest on their Redeemer Of Souls tour. The current line-up includes Phil Mogg – the only vocalist the band has ever had – original drummer Andrew Maynard Parker, and the time-serving Paul Raymond. And let’s not forget the baby of this mega-band, multi-talented bass player Rob De Luca. If you haven’t heard UFO, you can nd some excellent live recordings on YouTube, sixteen of their tracks (currently) listed on SongFacts, and of course the ofcial website.
