It is our belief that it is in the students’ best interest to explore many different types of courses when planning their future. Students should consider their future college and career choices when using this catalog and plan wisely to avoid the need for schedule changes and misplacement. Novi High School offers a broad selection of classes and activities dedicated to fostering well-rounded students who are prepared for their future. Selecting appropriate electives with attention to their future plans, their interests, aptitudes and talents will help students to focus their education and will give them the opportunity to explore specific career areas. The schedule is based upon student course selections from the previous school year. This limits the opportunity for course changes once the schedule has been set. If changes are necessary to core classes, students must submit a schedule change form to their counselor at August registration. Given that the master schedule is based upon student selections, desired course changes are often difficult to honor and need to be academically justified if they are able to be changed. If space allows, academic justification may include: enrolling in an advanced course, remediation or medical reasons. Requests for changes based upon lunch preference, teacher, class period or friends cannot be granted. The high school experience is full of opportunities that prepare each student for adult- hood. Exploring, understanding and choosing wisely from the many opportunities that are available will provide each student with purpose and focus beyond the high school years. Field trip options have expanded in response to teachers’ requests. Professional development most often brings together K–12 educators with museum educators to design specific curriculum resources in support of teachers’ student learning outcomes. To help in these efforts, this booklet offers suggestions for planning and executing a media center project. It includes tools and resources that school personnel will need before mounting such a major project. Guidelines provided by the Library Media Program Advisory Committee are provided, featuring suggestions for basic tenets of design, location, functional considerations, library media center spaces, design considerations, communication systems, distance learning classrooms, and computer laboratories. Because technology now comprises a large part of school media resources, ideas on how to approach this concern are also presented, including numerous tips on automating a library system. Further information on various aspects of design can be obtained from a listing of web sites, Internet discussion groups, reading materials, and visitation sites, several of which are listed here. Staff support is critical in this kind of project, therefore tips on marketing the media center are given. Diagrams of 25 media center floor plans are offered and indexed according to various features, such as their audio-visual storage, classroom space, computer workstations, offices, and other designated areas.

Weaving together original research with the best in recent scholarship, this session explores how a small minority that opposed FDR’s New Deal grew and became the most powerful political movement of the past four decades. We will also tackle some of unresolved debates among historians: how would Ronald Reagan, the most popular American leader of the past half-century, measure up to today’s conservative standards?
