  • Gabby Chaves and Ryan Norman Scored Hyundai's Fourth Straight Victory and BHA's First Win in an Endurance Race Sunday
Chaves and Norman give BHA, Hyundai’s fourth straight IMSA victory Braselton, GA - Gabby Chaves and Ryan Norman scored Hyundai's fourth straight victory and BHA's first win in an endurance race Sunday. They took the checkered flag after 4 hours of action-packed racing in the sizzling heat at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Teammates Parker Chase and Spencer Brockman finished second in the #29 Vertical Bridge Hyundai Veloster N TCR, while the #98 of Michael Lewis and Mason Filippi finished fifth. Pole winners Harry Gottsacker and Mark Wilkins finished ninth. Doubling the race distance doubles the challenges, but also makes victory more rewarding. "It's a great win for the team and for Hyundai," said Bryan Herta. "It was a tough race. Longer races always present more opportunities for challenges and we had some with the #98 and #21 cars. The team fought hard to be there at the end, and we walked away strengthening Hyundai's lead in the manufacturers’ championship." The #33 Hyundai Veloster N TCR started fourth with "Flyin' Ryan Norman" behind the wheel. Norman has led every race in 2020, and continued that streak at Road Atlanta prior to turning the bright red Veloster over to co-driver Gabby Chaves for the final two hours. Fuel consumption was the name of the game for everyone in the final hour. Chaves and his engineers were tasked with either hoping for a yellow flag or exercising fuel saving measures while retaining the lead to finish the race without an extra stop. They strategized diligently and Chaves drove a phenomenal race.

  • Michelin Performs in Road America Extremes
PRESS INFORMATION MICHELIN PERFORMS IN ROAD AMERICA EXTREMES Elkhart Lake, Wis. (August 2, 2020) – Michelin plans to kick off August with a product launch promoting its wide range of tires for different applications and conditions. The IMSA races at Road America this weekend offered a sneak preview of that variety. “Here in Wisconsin and the nearby states with the many farms, trucks, construction and heavy equipment makers, motorcycles, aircrafts and cyclists, we are reminded that “performance” means different things to different people,” said Tony Ménard, director of motorsport, Michelin North America. “We speak about the importance of Michelin tire performance in a range of conditions for each application. Our Michelin customers and consumers look to us to provide the best options, and we race to learn about performance at the extremes and today we certainly had some extreme conditions. It is a pity that the weather changed everything and we want to congratulate the drivers who were able to keep racing in difficult circumstances. “Today, we broke some records on a clear and relatively hot racetrack, then had an absolute deluge, including hail, that stopped the race. When the race resumed, our teams in all classes worked hard to maximize their wet weather tires on track,” Ménard said. The historic 4.048-mile, 14-turn circuit in the Kettle Moraine region features several major elevation change each lap, which resulted in deep pools of water in the runoffs and lower elevation areas. Weather Affects WeatherTech Race Again The key to victory in Sunday’s IMSA WeatherTech Championship race, then, was switching from the MICHELIN® Pilot® GT Sport slick to wet weather tires at the right time to handle the treacherous track conditions.

  • It's a Three-Peat, BHA Hyundai Is Victorious at VIR Bryan Herta Autosport Scores Third Straight IMPC Victory and Second Straight Podium Sweep
It's a Three-Peat, BHA Hyundai is Victorious at VIR Bryan Herta Autosport scores third straight IMPC victory and second straight podium sweep Danville, VA - Mason Filippi and Michael Lewis yesterday earned their first victory of the 2020 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season, driving the #98 Hyundai Veloster N TCR at Virginia International Raceway. This is their first race win as teammates. Lewis preserved his tires and saved fuel through the first half of the race, which helped the #98 team jump to first in a lightening quick pit stop, including the driver change. Typically, the race starter, Filippi took over for the finish. His mirrors were full of fellow BHA Velosters challenging for the win. Filippi's finesse allowed him to charge to the checkers for the victory. Harry Gottsacker and Mark Wilkins finished second in the #21 Hyundai Veloster N TCR and extended their points lead by 11 over Filippi and Lewis. Wilkins and Gottsacker have finished on the podium the last three races. It started with their victory at Sebring, followed by third place at Road America and then second yesterday at VIR. In just their third race together driving the #29 Vertical Bridge Hyundai N TCR, Spencer Brockman and Parker Chase scored their second podium finish with a phenomenal drive from 10th to third. Brockman recovered from an early race tangle to fourth before turning the driving duties over to Parker Chase. Chase had an exciting multi-lap battle with Stephen Simpson in the Audi for third and prevailed, finishing third. Gabby Chaves and Ryan Norman have led every race this season.
