Biographie de John Ford Portrait de John Ford Nationalité Américain d’origine irlandaise (famille modeste) Dates de naissance et décès né le 1er février 1894 et mort le 31 août 1973 Profession réalisateur, producteur, cinéaste Eléments biographiques majeurs Révolte à Dublin (1938) La Chevauchée Fantastique (1939) Vers sa Destinée (1939) Quelle était verte ma vallée (1941) Les Raisins de la Colère (1940) Dès l’entrée en guerre des Etats-Unis (1941), il est mobilisé dans la marine. Il va participer à toute la guerre, sur tous les fronts. Dans le Pacifique, où il perd un œil à la bataille de Midway, mais aussi en Europe après le débarquement de Normandie. L’armée utilise alors ses talents de réalisateur pour lui commander des films de propagande. La Bataille de Midway ou Torpedo Squadron qui datent tous deux de 1942, sont deux documentaires produits par l’armée pour soutenir l’effort de guerre. Le Massacre de Fort Apache (1948), La Charge héroïque (1950) et Rio Grande (1951) La Poursuite Infernale (1946) Le fils du désert (1949) La Prisonnière du Désert (1956) Avec plus 140 films à son actif, Ford s’affirme donc comme l’un des piliers de la période du classique hollywoodien (années 1920 – années 1960) et une figure de l’art cinématographique (Il obtient quatre fois l’oscar du meilleur réalisateur). Le titre : « Les Raisins de la Colère » Le titre du film est identique au roman de J Steinbeck. Alors qu'il écrit son roman chez lui, Steinbeck éprouve des difficultés particulières à trouver un titre. Sa femme, Carol Steinbeck, lui propose Les Raisins de la colère, en référence au The Battle Hymn of the Republic de Julia Ward Howe chant anti-esclavagiste très connu aux Etats- Unis. -

Since 1972 the ACLU National Prison Project has worked to ensure that our nation’s prisons comply with the Constitution, domestic law, and international human rights principles. The American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois is a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization committed to protect and to expand the civil liberties and civil rights of persons in Illinois. The organization has engaged in this constitutionally protected pursuit through public education and advocacy before courts, legislatures, and administrative agencies. It enabled the visual realisation of concepts and ideas that would otherwise have been, in practical and logistical terms, too risky, expensive or plain impossible to capture, re-present and reproduce on film according to so-called “conventional” motion-picture recording techniques and devices. Since then, VFX – in conjunction with their respective techno-visual means of re-production – have gradually become utterly indispensable to the array of practices, techniques and tools commonly used in filmmaking as such. For the Hollywood cinema industry, comprehensive VFX applications have not only motivated the expansion of commercial filmmaking praxis. They have also influenced the evolution of viewing pleasures and spectatorship experiences. Following the digitisation of their associated technologies, VFX have been responsible for multiplying the strategies of re-presentation and story-telling as well as extending the range of stories that can potentially be told on screen. By the same token, the visual standards of the Hollywood film’s production and exhibition have been growing in sophistication. -
