Northern Pike _ The northern is one of the exotic fish of Kansas. A few of the reservoirs were stocked, initially, on an experimental basis. Now some of those reservoirs are regularly producing catches of 10 to 15 pound northerns, with an occasional lunker being brought in. And the northern is being added to the finny population of other impoundments. The grassy flats provide the fastest fishing for northerns and minnows seem to be the best bait. If you get a northern on the line . . . hang on . . . he’s got a nasty disposition. He loves Kansas water . . . and has no plans to leave it!
