I think this is a fabulous addition to any fan's collection, but I also think it truly stands on it's own as an introduction to King's main line of work. When science geek Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider, he was imbued with amazing abilities: the proportional strength and speed of a spider, adhesive fi ngertips and toes, and a precognitive awareness of danger called “spider-sense.” After inadvertently playing a part in the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that with great power there must also come great responsibility, and now fi ghts crime as the web-slinging, wall-crawling wonder called... MARY JANE! THE RETURN OF Years ago, a mad scientist called the JACKAL cloned Peter Parker and created BEN REILLY, the original Scarlet Spider. Ben fought against him and for a time took up the mantle of the Amazing Spider-Man before sacrifi cing his life to save Peter’s. But his story didn’t end there. In an effort to perfect his cloning technology, the Jackal re-cloned and tortured Ben again and again. Ben snapped, freed himself, and took over as the Jackal, hoping to use the villain’s tech to save the world. Ben created the company New U. Claiming to deliver medical miracles, the company was really replacing ailing patients with near-perfect clones. One of these patients was an employee of Peter’s company, Parker Industries, named Jerry Salteres. Upon meeting the seemingly cured Jerry, Peter’s Spider-Sense went off, prompting him to investigate New U. There, he uncovered the dark truth: Ben has cloned nearly everyone who has died in Spider-Man’s life, from friends and loved ones like Gwen Stacy, Captain Stacy, and Jean DeWolff, to his worst enemies like Doctor Octopus and the Green Goblin, hoping to convince Peter to use Parker Industries’ reach to make New U global.

A major critique of the genre is that it simply represents an adolescent male power fantasy; and presents a world view that valorises masculinist individualism.

CHAPTER 3 RESEARCH METHOD This chapter contains the research method which is used by the researcher to collect and analyze the data of this research. This research method is arranged based on the problem analyzed and the main purpose of the research. The research method consists of research design, unit of analysis, source of data, technique of data collection and technique of data analysis 3.1. Research Design Research design used by the researcher in this research is descriptive qualitative to analyze the data. According to Sandelowski, qualitative descriptive research should be seen as a categorical, as opposed to a non-categorical, alternative for inquiry; is less interpretive than an ‘interpretive description’ approach because it does not require the researcher to move as far from or into the data; and, does not require a conceptual or highly abstract rendering of the data, compared to other qualitative designs. The researcher used descriptive qualitative to describe the translation strategies of pun expressing humor used in Deadpool Comic Series by Daniel Way both in English and Indonesian version. Therefore, this research is not only limited to collecting and organizing the data, but also analyzing and describing it. 3.2. Unit of Analysis The unit of analysis of the study, the researcher identifies word or phrase containing pun expressing humor and its translation strategies used for each pun in Deadpool Comic Series by Daniel Way. The source language is English and the target language is Indonesian. 13 14 3.3. Source of Data The data were taken from Daniel Way’s comic entitled Deadpool.

Some jobs are just too tough for your average fast-talkin’ high-tech gun-for-hire. Sometimes...to get the job done right...you need someone crazier than a sack’a ferrets. You need Wade Wilson. The Crimson Comedian. The Regeneratin’ Degenerate. The Merc with a Mouth… During the Secret Invasion, Deadpool was hired by Nick Fury to steal vital Skrull bio- data. But Norman Osborn intercepted the transmission of the data and used it to take down the Skrull Queen—which made him famous, and Deadpool one ticked-off (and unpaid) merc. Deadpool then hired the reformed villain Taskmaster to help him take on Norman’s covert strike force, the Thunderbolts, and squeeze the cash out of Osborn. Not only did Deadpool and Taskmaster defeat the Thunderbolts, but by the end of the battle, Deadpool managed to steal Osborn’s gold card…and finally got paid! Well…at least enough to cover the money he owed Taskmaster. But Wade’s expecting a payday all his own and he’s not finished with Norman...not by a long shot… Unfortunately Osborn feels the same way about Deadpool and he’s just sent the unstoppable assassin Bullseye (now masquerading as the Avenger Hawkeye) to take Deadpool out once and for all. The ensuing fight didn’t go very well for Wade... The transforming (post)human being is therefore the focus; who we are today, and who or what we may become as humanity increasingly interfaces with technology. Theoretical analysis of cyborg imagery centres on the science fiction domain, in particular film and television, as opposed to art.
