Szeregi partii w szybki sposób rozrosły się, i już w kwietniu 2001 roku ukonstytuował się sztab wyborczy Platformy, którego koordynatorem został Paweł Piskorski. Od 5 maja do 24 czerwca 2001 odbyło się 41 konwencji, które miały wyłonić kandydatów na posłów z ramienia PO1. W prawyborach wzięło udział bez mała 70 tysięcy ludzi, unieważniono dwie konwencje, wyłoniono 411 kandydatów do Sejmu, w tym 16% stanowiły kobiety2. Jeszcze przed rozpoczęciem kampanii wyborczej do opinii publicznej przedostawała się namiastka proponowanego przez partię programu naprawy Rzeczypospolitej. W rozmowie z 29 kwietnia 200lr. z Pawłem Piskorskim, jaką przeprowadził na łamach tygodnika „Wprost” Bogusław Mazur, dało się zaobserwować kilka generalnych elementów programowych partii. Na pytanie „Czy Platforma Obywatelska wygra bitwę o Sejm?”, Piskorski stwierdził, iż nie wszystkie bitwy się wygrywa, zaś istotne jest to by wygrać wojnę. (...) Najważniejsza jest wojna o model gospodarki, czyli niskie, liniowe podatki, co łączy się z pobudzeniem wysokiego wzrostu gospodarczego.

This is being done on behalf of The Association for Diplomatic Studies. I am Charles Stuart Kennedy. J.D. and I are old friends. We are going to include your biographic sketch that you included at the beginning, which is really quite full and it will be very useful. I have a couple of questions to begin. While you were in high school, what was your interest in foreign affairs per se? I know you were talking politics with Mr. Frank Humphrey, Senator Hubert Humphrey's brother, at the Humphrey Drugstore in Huron, South Dakota, and all that, but how about foreign affairs? BINDENAGEL: I grew up in Huron, South Dakota and foreign affairs in South Dakota really focused on our home town politician Senator and Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey. Frank, Hubert Humphrey's brother, was our connection to Washington, DC, and the center of American politics. We followed Hubert's every move as Senator and Vice President; he of course was very active in foreign policy, and the issues that concerned South Dakota's farmers were important to us. Most of farmers' interests were in their wheat sales, and when we discussed what was happening with wheat you always had to talk about the Russians, who were buying South Dakota wheat.

    Minister's Annual Address 2005 Government information on the Polish foreign policy presented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof. Adam Daniel Rotfeld, at the session of the Sejm on 21 st January 2005 Mister President, Mister Prime Minister, Mister Speaker, Members of the House, I take the floor with certain anxiety and diffidence. For it is the first time that I stand on this rostrum as the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs. What is more, I am to present to the House the priorities and tenets of Polish foreign policy prepared under your leadership, Mister Speaker, when you were executing the office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs with such success. My address opens the fourth and last annual debate on foreign policy during this term of the Sejm. We have entered an election year. That is significant, since the clear line formerly separating domestic and international affairs has become blurred in our times. I mention this, because I would like to explain in the beginning that it is not my intention to become involved in any way in the pre-election campaign. The national interest of the Polish State obligate us to treat external policy and its instrument – diplomacy – in a way transcending party lines. I wish to ensure optimum effectiveness of our actions and continuity in all the undertakings initiated by Minister Krzysztof Skubiszewski in the autumn of 1989, and advanced over the next 15 years by his successors – Andrzej Olechowski, Władysław Bartoszewski, Dariusz Rosati, Bronisław Geremek and Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz.
