Squad Analysis: Who Will Win the Champions League?
CIES Football Observatory Monthly Report Issue no. 4 - April 2015 Squad analysis: who will win the Champions League? Drs Raffaele Poli, Loïc Ravenel and Roger Besson 1. This suggests that Real The CIES Football Observatory proposes an in- Madrid is most likely to win the competition, depth analysis of the squad composition of teams ahead of Barcelona and Bayern Munich. qualified. The statistical indicators selected are generally correlated to results. It is therefore pos- sible to use them as a guide to identify the teams most likely to win. In all of the cases, we compare the values measured for current teams with those of the last five winners. The first group of indicators studied relates to the experience of squad members, whether in Euro- pean cups, in national A-team selections or in domestic leagues (chapter 2). The second type of indicators refers to squad stability: permanence in the first team squad, employment of new play- ers and length of contract remaining (chapter 3). We then analyse transfer policies from the point of view of sums invested in signing players and the level of teams from which they were recruited (chapter 4). Structural Dynamics Analysis of Real Madrid Club De Futbol
Journal of Alternative Perspectives in the Social Sciences (2012) Volume 5 No1,196-220 Structural Dynamics Analysis of Real Madrid Club de Futbol Manuel E. Gil U.1, Millennia Atlantic University Abstract: With the election of Florentino Perez as President on July 2000, Real Madrid (spanish soccer team) experienced a drastic change in the way the organization functioned. Even though there were some aspects of the new business model of becoming a global brand that proved to be successful (Real Madrid has managed to become one of the top 10 most valuable sports teams brand in the world according to the Forbes Fab 40 study published in 2012), the organization was trapped on an oscillating pattern that continues to this days and that has led them from structural changes to several periods of championships droughts immediately after being recognized by FIFA as club of the century in December 2000. This papers presents a Structural Dynamics analysis of the organization in the last twelve years and proposes a solution to the structural conflict based on Fritz (1996) Structural Dynamics Theory and Groups Dynamics field concepts and elements defined by Greenberg, J. & Baron, R. (2003). Key words: Structural dynamics, Group dynamics, Real Madrid, Soccer, Football 1. Introduction Football (or soccer), has experienced an immense amount of changes over time. There are arguably many different precedents of it as a hobby or form of entertainment, but 1 Manuel E. Gil is a member of the American Marketing Association, member of the South Florida Chapter of the American Marketing Association, and a Junior Member of the Executives Association of Carabobo (Venezuela).
