 Developed by HRTPO staff in coordination with local U.S. Armed Forces, local government, the Port of , HRT, and VDOT.  Web-based survey collected on HRTPO website (www.hrtpo.org)  Survey collection period (November 8, 2011 – February 24, 2012)  10,994 survey responses were received!

Military Bases • Improve operations at congested military gates Some suggestions by military commuters include: • Providing additional personnel at gates • Additional travel lanes or gates • ID scanning technologies at gates • HOV gate lanes to encourage carpooling • Provide shuttle/transit circulator service within major bases and to/from other locations (i.e. exchange, medical facilities, other military sites) • Provide designated vehicles (vehicle pool) to military personnel who commute via public transit for mid-day errands and/or meetings

Transportation Demand Management (TDM) • Encourage additional military participation in TDM programs offered by HRT/TRAFFIX (i.e. ridesharing, transit usage, working off-peak hours, telecommuting)
