INTRODUCTION The salticid spider fauna of Central America is still poorly known. Only Panama has had an extensive faunal study published (Chickering, 1946). Most of the other records in the literature are from either Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica or El Salvador (Peckham & Peckham, 1896; Pickard-Cambridge, 1901; Banks, 1909; Kraus, 1955). In fact, there are no records of Nicaraguan salticids in the major spider catalogs (Roewer, 1954; Brignoli, 1983; Platnick, 1989), or in Pickard-Cambridge (1901), although some records are listed with range data from a country to the north and the south of Nicaragua or from "Central America" generally. One article (Cutler, 1981) contains one record for Paradamoetas formicina Peckham & Peckham from Musawas, Zelaya and another (Galiano, 1982) one record for Nycerella delecta (Peckham & Peckham) from San Marcos, Carazo. -

Venue The meeting will take place on the campus of Plymouth University. Directions to the University and a campus map can be found at <http://www.plymouth.ac.uk/location>. The opening symposium and the main oral sessions will be held in the Sherwell Centre, located on North Hill, on the east side of campus. Accommodation Delegates need to make their own arrangements for accommodation. Plymouth has a large number of hotels, guesthouses and hostels at a variety of prices, most of which are within ~1km of the University campus (hotels with PL1 or PL4 postcodes are closest). Eustiromastix spinipes (Taczanowski 1871) is reported for the first time from Colombia. The known distribution of Breda lubomirskii (Taczanowski 1878), Lurio solennis (C. L. Koch 1846), Pachomius dybowskii (Taczanowski 1872), Tanybelus aeneiceps Simon 1902, and Xanthofreya albosignata (F. O. Pickard- Cambridge 1901) is extended to include the Department of Co rdoba. New records are also provided for Helvetia albovittata Simon 1901, Leptofreya ambigua (C. L. Koch 1846), and Scopocira dentichelis Simon 1900. Keywords. E-mail: [email protected] ABSTRACT.The Brazilian Savanna Ecoregion (Cerrado) is one of the richest biomes in the world, with a characteristic highly seasonal climate a dry season between May and September and a rainy season from October through April. Ground-dwelling spiders from three Cerrado phytophysiognomies, “campo cerrado”, “cerrado” and “cerradão”, were sampled using pitfall traps during two years, totaling 111 species and 3,529 individuals. The abundance of individuals and species richness was higher during the wet season. Fifty-eight species were captured exclusively during that period, whereas only nineteen were restricted to the dry season. Only two species were found in all samples. The number of juveniles was higher than the number of adults in all phytophysiognomies and in all species during both seasons. The highest abundance was registered in October and the lowest in April. Overall sex ratio was male-biased in all vegetation types sampled. Distinct climate variables affected the abundance of spiders depending on sex, age and vegetal physiog- nomy where they were sampled. This study involved the longest sampling of spider abundance and diversity on the ground of a Brazilian Savanna. -

A first record of the jumping spider genus Xanthofreya Edwards, 2015 (Salticidae: Freyina) from Colombia is given, with new records of X. albosignata (F. O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1901) from the Bolívar and Choco Departments and X. arraijanica (Chickering, 1946) from the Sucre Department, in tropical low and dry forest ecosystems. A map is included to show the known distribution of Xanthofreya species in Colombia. Keywords. Bolívar, Caribbean coast, Choco, new faunistics data, Sucre Introduction The tribe Aelurillini Simon, 1901, currently includes at least 500 species, 51 genera and 3 subtribes (Maddison 2015). Of these subtribes, Freyina Edwards, 2015, is most diverse with 26 genera, distributed exclusively in the Neotropical region. The Freyina has been a focus of study by Galiano (1961, 1968, 1970, 1978, 1979a, b, c, 1981a, b, c, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1994, 1995, 2000, 2001) and was reviewed and expanded by Edwards (2015). One of the newer genera in this subtribe is Xanthofreya Edwards, 2015, a genus that includes five species, all described for both sexes and ranging from Guatemala to Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Guyana and Brazil (Edwards, 2015; World Spider Catalog, 2017).
