UM CAMPUS IS SITE FOR MISSOULA HEARTWALK SEPT. 14

MISSOULA-

Most people know someone who has died of heart disease or stroke. Now Missoulians can do something to help fight these diseases.

Businesses are encouraged to pull their workers together to form teams for the annual

Missoula HeartWalk, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14, on The University of Montana campus.

This year’s theme is “Who Are You Walking For?” Registration begins at 8 a.m. on the

Mansfield Mall between the Mansfield Library and the University Center.

The 3-mile route will take walkers through Washington-Grizzly Stadium and scenic areas

of campus. Shorter routes are available for those who can’t walk the full route.

Teams that already have collected donations can register early in Clock Court at

Southgate Mall on Thursday, Sept. 12. Team leaders can turn in their packets between 5 and 9

p.m.

The goal for this year’s walk is to raise $125,000 to help sponsor research and community

education programs funded by the American Heart Association. Last year’s HeartWalk surpassed

its $80,000 goal by several thousand dollars.

UM is actively involved in the HeartWalk because UM faculty and student research

projects are funded by AHA.
