It is possible to spend tranquil hours walking the woods and parkland, exploring and enjoying the many unique attractions of this historic estate. Close to the castle is the formal walled garden with its special rose Estate Map display, an apple orchard and a delightful arboretum with over 300 types of exotic trees and plants.

In the glen, which runs down to the , a romantic Blind Arch from the 1780’s spans the carriage driveway and a classical Doric Temple of the same vintage stands overlooking the lake and an enchanting waterfall.

The ruins of a splendid Gothic folly provide an added attraction. The 20-acre lake situated close to the castle is ideal for angling and boating, whilst the tranquil woodlands is wonderful for horse- riding.
