FOR RELEASE: Sunday, April 19, 1987 NORTHEASTERN HALL OF FAME WELCOMES SIX NEW MEMBERS Northeastern University will induct six individuals into its Hall of Fame 1n formal ceremonies at Friday night, May 1. The inductees are: John Clark, Class of 1977; Dr. Job Fuchs; Joseph Lynch, Class of 1948; Philip McCabe, Class of 1963; David Poile, Class of 1971; Michael Prohodsky, Class of 1946. Clark, a Pittsburgh native, was one of New England's premier guards under Coach Jim Calhoun in the mid-seventies, graduating as the University's all-time leading scorer. Clark netted 1,617 career points, while setting Husky basket9a11 records for most points in a season and a career, most field goals in a season and a career, most free throws in a career, and most career assists. Fuchs, the University's Lane Health Center Director since 1976 and the chief medical advisor to the athletic program, has compiled a distinguished medical career over 30 years at Northeastern . . Dr. Fuchs oversees the health maintenance operation at all home and away football games, and is the ultimate medical authority for all of the University's men's and women's varsity sports teams. Lynch was an outstanding baseball player under the tutelage of Herb Gallagher 1n the post World War II days. Lynch, a Roslindale product, batted over .350 in two varsity seasons' (1946, 1947} as a first baseman/centerfielder. He went on to play professional baseball in the Boston Red Sox system and was an All Star and MVP with the Bennington (VT) club in the Northern League. McCabe parlayed a distinguished career as a student athlete into distinguished tenures as a coach, guidance counselor, and Director of Admissions, a position he

•.• j, has held at Northeastern since 1976. McCabe played both sides of the interior line as well as linebacker for 's football Huskies. The former Boston English star stayed sharp athletically after a three-year stint in the United States Army in Korea, rising to the rank of football captain as a senior at Northeastern in 1961. From the men's hockey ranks, Northeastern has inducted Poile, a prolific goal scorer as a forward for the Huskies from 1967 through 1970. Poile established himself as one of college hockey's vintage snipers, graduating with a University- record 11 career hat tricks, and 82 goals in just three varsitys·easons. As a senior, Poile tallied 37 times in 23 games for the University's second-leading season-goal total and per-game goal average. Currently the Vice President/General Manager of the NHL's Washington Capitals, Poile, a graduate of Northeastern's Business Administration curriculum, has titice been named NHE. ·Executive of the Year. Prohodsky has been elected for his achievements in track and cross country. Prohodsky won a first for Northeastern athletics when he captured the IC4A indoor two mile championship at Madison Square Garden in 1941; it was the Huskies first individual title in the prestigious Eastern track and field event. Prohodsky set University records in the indoor mile and two mile and set standards outdoors i.n those two races as well. One of New England's premier long-distance runners, Prohodsky, a Mansfield native, captained the Husky track squad as a senior in 1942.
