ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Consumption of alcohol, intoxicants, and smoking would not be tolerated during the entire course of the journey and the trek. Kindly co-operate with us to make the experience more fun. Do not expect any luxuries on the trip. The locations that we host are in remote places and we do our best to arrange the basic facilities. The goal is to be outdoors. The Food that shall be provided will be Basic Veg Food. We do not serve Non-Veg Food. Put Litter in its place, do not trash your travel. In the case of traffic delays or breakdowns, expect a little delay in reaching the destination. FAQs I have booked the trek when will I get fuher updates regarding the trek? Well, most of our treks are usually conrmed by Thursday and you would receive a BON VOYAGE mail that would contain details regarding Pickup Points ( Location and Timings ), Outdoor Leader ( Point of Contact ) ’s, and Don’ts. Would I be added to a WhatsApp Group once the trek is conrmed? Yes, the Bon Voyage mail would contain a link for Whatsapp Group through which one can join and interact with fellow travelers and outdoor leaders. Do I have any other boarding points apa from the ones mentioned? Yes, we do have options for picking a traveler on board with a few locations provided they are on the route to our destination. Not at all. Well, you are in the mountains and none of our trails have a washroom facility during the trek. Is the trek safe for Women/Girls? Yes, it’s much safe and sound. We have been organizing these treks over the years now and we always have had an equal ratio or sometimes we have women in the majority. We also have female outdoor leaders who are on board and lead the other trekking enthusiast. We have made sure our homestay/tent accommodation is separate for men and women. Would I be able to postpone to a future in case I do not aend the trek on the day of depaure? We are extremely sorry, you cannot postpone to any future date in case you fail to aend the trek on the mentioned date for any reasons whatsoever ( family/health/work emergencies ). YOUNG Under the Direction of David McCreery ABSTRACT This is an analysis of Goan identity issues in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries using unconventional sources such as novels, short stories, plays, pamphlets, periodical articles, and internet newspapers. The importance of using literature in this analysis is to present how Goans perceive themselves rather than how the government, the tourist industry, or tourists perceive them. Also included is a discussion of post-colonial issues and how they define Goan identity. Chapters include “Goan Identity: A Concept in Transition,” “Goan Identity: Defined by Language,” and “Goan Identity: The Ancestral Home and Expatriates.” The conclusion is that by making Konkani the official state language, Goans have developed a dual Goan/Indian identity. In addition, as the Goan Diaspora becomes more widespread, Goans continue to define themselves with the concept of building or returning to the ancestral home.     © Lonely Planet Publications 141 North Goa Packaged neatly between the Terekhol and Mandovi Rivers, North Goa encompasses most of what many folks come to Goa seeking: the relentless action of Calangute and Baga, the kooky hippie vibe of Arambol and Anjuna, the remnants of the trance-party scene at Vagator, the thick charas (cannabis or hashish) smoke at Chapora, the laid-back beach paradises of Aswem and Mandrem, the five-star havens at Candolim and Sinquerim, and the hideaway luxury boltholes interspersed neatly throughout, many in gorgeously atmospheric heritage homes. It was not, however, always this way. Until the 1960s Calangute, nowadays Goa’s most raucous package resort, was the watering hole of the Portuguese elite, who arrived in May for their annual mudança (movement), to ‘take the air’ along the sedate seaside promenade. Aside from Calangute, the northern coastal strip remained a simple string of fishing villages, bounded to the south by the Portuguese Fort Aguada, and to the north by Terekhol Fort. Towards the end of the ’60s came the heady hippie days of naked revellers, drugs and ‘flower NORTH GOA power’; next came the all-night trance parties of the ’80s and ’90s, and, simultaneously, the package-holiday hordes. Today, the key to enjoying North Goa lies in knowing exactly what you’re after. If you’re here for spiritually slanted tranquillity, don’t go to Baga on a Friday night, more Ibiza than Inner Peace. Similarly, if you’re here to live it up a little, don’t roll up at Mandrem, where the liveliest thing you’ll find is a high-energy ashtanga yoga session.

    1291 HYDROLOGY AND WATER AVAILABILITY 767. The Mahadayi river is a west flowing river, which is also known as Mandovi river or Madei river in the State of Goa. It drains a total drainage area of 2032 sq.km. in the Western Ghats before falling into the Arabian Sea. Out of a total catchment area of 2032 sq.km., 375 sq.km. of catchment area lies in the State of Karnataka and 77 sq.km. in the State of Maharashtra. Rest of the Catchment area i.e., 1580 sq.km. lies within the State of Goa. 768. Three party States, namely the States of Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra have indicated different values of water availability at different points in the Mahadayi river basin and at different dependability, through their respective Statements of Case / Statement of Claims or Affidavits of the Expert Witnesses or through the evidence of the Expert Witnesses during the course of Cross Examinations which are as under. a. Water availability at 75% dependability and 50% dependability, is assessed, by the State of Goa for: 1292 i. Entire Mahadayi basin i.e., for the catchment area of 2032 sq.km. ii. Usable yield from catchment area of 1523 sq.km. (i.e., after deducting 509 sq.km. from total catchment area of 2032 sq.km. to assess the ‘usable yield’, which according to State of Goa is generated from an area of 1523 sq.km. only) iii. Kotni Dam (independent catchment) with catchment area of 93.19 sq.km., Bhandura dam with catchment area of 32.25 sq.km., Bailnadi with catchment area of 32.33 sq.km., Kalasa (including Haltara and Surla diversions) with catchment area of 25.50 sq.km., Irti Diversion with catchment area of 8.78 sq.km., Irti pickup dam with catchment area of 9.91 sq.km., Katla- Palna Diversion with catchment area of 22.50 sq.km., Diggi Diversion with catchment area of 15.60 sq.km., and Viranjole Diversion with catchment area of 9.50 sq.km.
