Toll Authority Updates as of 3/26/2020 Tolling agencies continue to close their walk-in service centers in order to protect their employees and the general public. Where available, online service centers remain open, and all account management and payments should be conducted online. While cashless toll lanes remain open, additional toll authorities have ceased operation for cash/credit card payment lanes. The table below includes the latest closures, but please note, this information is subject to change without notice. State Authority Status California Bay Area Toll Authority Bay Area bridges suspend cash toll collection. All-electronic lanes remain open. The Toll Roads All-Electronic Toll Road, no changes implemented to date. Los Angeles Metro Transit All-Electronic Toll Road, no changes implemented to date. The Orange County Transportation Authority All-Electronic Toll Road, no changes implemented to date. South Bay Expressway All-Electronic Toll Road, no changes implemented to date. Colorado Express Toll Way All-Electronic Toll Road, no changes implemented to date. Northwest Parkway All-Electronic Toll Road, no changes implemented to date. E-Zpass Region Effective March 24th, at 10pm, the Deleware Department of Transporation has suspended cash toll collection until further notice. All traffic will be directed through the EZPass lanes and motorists without EZPass will receive a bill in the mail for the toll with no penalty or processing fee. The route 896 southbound ramp to I-95 will temporarily close due to the road configuration that does not E-ZPass Delaware permit access to the EZPass lanes. E-ZPass Maine All-Electronic Toll Road, no changes implemented to date. March 17, 2020 – In response to Governor Larry Hogan’s executive order this morning and to help limit the spread of COVID-19, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) will initiate statewide all-electronic (cashless) tolling effective at 3 p.m. today until further notice, and will close all E-ZPass® Maryland Customer Service Centers effective Wednesday, March 18, until further notice. To assist Marylanders with these changes, the MDTA will provide video tolling at the cash rates at toll facilities where cash is normally accepted, and establish grace periods for E-ZPass® Discount Plan expirations, Notices of Toll Due and citations. All-Electronic Tolling Statewide Toll collection will be automated at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway (I-95), Fort McHenry Tunnel (I95), Baltimore Harbor Tunnel (I-895), Bay Bridge (US 50/301) and Nice/Middleton Bridge (US 301). All drivers should KEEP MOVING through toll plazas without stopping. Cash payment lanes will operate as video tolling (cashless) lanes. Motorists who usually pay with cash will be mailed E-ZPass Maryland a Notice of Toll Due for the cash toll rate. E-ZPass Massachusetts All-Electronic Toll Road, no changes implemented to date. E-ZPass New Hampshire Cash tolls still remain open, no changes implemented to date. Beginning at 10:00 p.m. March, 24, 2020, all manual cash toll collection on the Atlantic City Expressway will be suspended to reduce the potential exposure of COVID-19 to both drivers and employees. Drivers without E-ZPass will receive a bill in the mail for the cash toll amount. All automatic coin machines will remain E-Zpass New Jersey operational with E-ZPass accepted in any open lane. New York Thruway: For the safety of Thruway Authority personnel and the traveling public and out of an abundance of caution, emergency tolling procedures are in place for cash collection on the Thruway until further notice. Beginning March 22 at approximately 8 p.m., non-E-ZPass customers will not receive a toll ticket on entry, and will be asked to provide license plate information when they exit the Thruway, without paying cash. They will receive a bill in the mail approximately 30 days after travel which they can pay with credit card, E-ZPass New York through the steps below. Toll Collectors collect approximately 35 percent of tolls by cash or credit. To help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, Toll Plaza personnel have been provided with nitrile gloves, hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes for their mandatory use. For the safety of employees and customers, the Ohio Turnpike is encouraging E-ZPass Ohio customers to use E-ZPass or a credit card (not cash) to make toll payments. As temporary safety measure during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) will no longer accept cash and credit cards on its mainline ticket system beginning March 16 at 8 p.m. All tolls will be assessed electronically via E-ZPass or the PA Turnpike TOLL BY PLATE program as vehicles travel at posted speed limits through tolling points. With the PA Turnpike TOLL BY PLATE, high-speed cameras capture license- plate images as vehicles pass through. The registered vehicle owner receives an invoice within 30 days for trips made through the tolling point. Invoices can be E-ZPass Pennsylvania paid online, by phone or by mail. Most cash tolls still remain open however, the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority is announcing that due to reduced overnight traffic due to the effects of COVID-19, the toll booth cash collections on the Newport Pell Bridge going westbound will temporarily be suspended from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., effective Thursday, March 26, until further notice. The westbound toll booth (heading toward Jamestown) will be open for cash collections during the day from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. However, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., RITBA will close the toll booths and send all traffic through the open road tolling (ORT) lane. The tolls will be collected utilizing the existing open road tolling E-ZPass Rhode Island (ORT) technology. E-ZPass Virginia All-Electronic Toll Road, no changes implemented to date. E-ZPass West Virginia Cash tolls still remain open, no changes implemented to date. In an effort to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus in the region, the Illinois Tollway will temporarily implement all-electronic tolling as a precaution to limit the potential spread of coronavirus to customers, as well as Tollway employees. Customers without I-PASS are encouraged to do the following: • Visit www.illinoistollway.com to calculate missed tolls and pay online within seven days or use the search by plate feature after seven days. • Visit a Jewel-Osco store to obtain an I-PASS transponder and activate the I-PASS Illinois transponder online. North Carolina QuickPass All-Electronic Toll Road, no changes implemented to date. Indiana Toll Road All-Electronic Toll Road, no changes implemented to date. All-Electronic Toll Road. If a driver does not have an E-Zpass account, a toll invoice will be issued. RiverLink will not charge additional late fees on tolls due to RiverLink - Kentucky / Indiana their customer service centers being closed. Florida Effective March 19th, CFX is temporarily closing in lane staffed toll booths for cash collection of tolls, and shifting to license plate tolling to reduce the potential exposure of both drivers and employees to the COVID-19 virus. Cash paying drivers, who normally pay at the toll booth, will continue to pay the cash rate and will receive a bill called a Pay by Plate statement in the mail for tolls incurred. No additional fees will be incurred for toll billing during this temporary suspension. Central Florida Expressway Authority (Formerly OOCEA - Orlando - Orange County Expressway Authority) For drivers who typically pay cash in the lanes: • Keep moving and do not stop at toll booths • Drivers will be charged the same cash-rate • Expect a Pay by Plate billing statement to be mailed to the vehicles’ registered owner for tolls, with no additional fees or administrative charges. Drivers are encouraged to make sure their mailing address is up to date with the Department of Motor Vehicles. Cash toll payments will be suspended on toll bridges beginning Wednesday, March 18 at 6am, for 30 days. Leeway Toll Authority Motorists without a toll transponder will be billed for tolls via Toll-by-Plate; motorists will not be charged any service fee. Florida's Turnpike Enterprise is only collecting tolls electronically. Please drive Florida Department of Transportation through toll plazas - DO NOT STOP. If you do not have a SunPass or interoperable transponder, you will be billed through TOLL-BY-PLATE. Miami - Dade Expressway All-Electronic Toll Road, no changes implemented to date. Tampa-Hillsborough Expressway Authority All-Electronic Toll Road, no changes implemented to date. Georgia State Road and Transit Authority All-Electronic Toll Road, no changes implemented to date. Kansas Kansas Turnpike Authority Cash tolls still remain open, no changes implemented to date. Oklahoma Oklahoma turnpike Authority All-Electronic Toll Road, no changes implemented to date. Texas During Harris County Stay Home-Work Safe Order: By order of Commissioners Court, tolls are being waived on Harris County toll roads in order to assist those who must continue to travel throughout the county during the Stay Home-Work Safe Order now in effect. Harris County Toll Road Authority (HCTRA) Houston, Texas The order applies to HCTRA roadways, and does not include tolls charged on adjacent facilities not governed by Harris County.
