24 25 We have witnessed the strength and resilience of AHRI members and staff during this very difficult time in our world’s history. Our ability to drive the vital activities of the association while steering our own companies through the chaos caused by COVID-19 says a lot about the strength of our industry and its people. I am honored to serve as AHRI’s Chairman of the Board in the coming year, as we continue efforts to make the industry better—and are more energized than ever before—to ensure safety, comfort, and productiv- ity for all.

The next steps for our association are clear. We must ramp up efforts to help AHRI member companies and certification participants operate in a level, global playing field—and break down artificial barriers arising from com- peting standards and certification programs. As Chairman, I will embark on an initiative to make AHRI the globally recognized certification authority by increasing international participation in our programs and building rela- tionships with regulatory bodies in countries across the world. We will continue to address indoor air quality, facilitating access to infor- mation and resources for stakeholders—from the contractors and distribu- tors that provide their expertise and equipment, to the building owners and managers charged with making spaces safe. Having achieved legislative success in our efforts to phasedown high global warming potential refrig- erants, we will continue to promote environmental stewardship, including being actively engaged in the discussions surrounding decarbonization and its impact on our industry and our member companies.

I recognize that the important work we do cannot be accomplished without talent and support, so I also look forward to addressing the skilled labor shortage by collaborating with industry partners to accelerate outreach to young people, veterans, and those in under-served communities. Those who can, must, and only AHRI is positioned to make these goals reality.

AHRI member companies can rest assured that we will prioritize your en- gagement and satisfaction as we navigate toward the new normal.
