The June weather was quite warm but that didn’t deter players from showing up for our Thursday Sweeps, our 9th Bronze Tee Celebration and our 54 Hole Tournament whose results will be printed in the August issue of the Green Gazette.

The star of our June calendar was the 9th Bronze Tee Celebration which featured Sean giving a detailed explanation of how the tee was constructed, the cutting of ribbons, the effortless and perfect tee shot by Captain Ellie and the toasting of the opening of the tee with mimosas and cookies and coffee cake. Kudos go to Sean and his crew for doing such a magnificent job of constructing the tee and to Judy Wood for proposing that we hold this celebration.

Ann Podielski

May and June have been great months for playing golf.

The weather has been wonderful even though it got a little hot some days and the course is in great shape. The best thing about playing 9 holes is that we get through before noon and the really hot weather of the afternoon.

We had great participation by Carol Tonge, Glenda Barrilleaux, Nancy Koring , Teri Robbins, Kathy Vold and Elena Bennett. Carol has recuperated from her surgery and is now playing the full 9 holes. Ann is slowly recovering from her back surgery and has joined the group for lunch.

There has been some great play going on out there. Elena birdied hole 7 and Kathy birdied hole 15. Then we had Teri breaking 50. Keep up the good play ladies!!

SAVE THE DATE CHIEF TOURNAMENT

September 17, 2016 For those of you unfamiliar with CHIEF, this is a tournament that was first started when the Club House was built. Monies were raised to furnish the interior. Since that time the tournament has raised funds for various club needs. Today we still have needs for this tournament. How can one help: 1. Play in the tournament. 2. Buy a tee sponsorship. 3. Donate a raffle prize. 4. Donate something that would entice someone to bid at the silent auction. So be thinking how you can help make this a tremendous success and be looking for the CHIEF signs when they are put up in August. Need more information? Call H.C. Howser, Doreen Lewallen or Jan Core
